...OK I know not a lot of sports fanatics here, but one of the NFL's legends Bart Starr died this past Sunday at the age of 85.
Selected #200 overall in the 1956 draft, he went on to lead Green bay to six division titles, five NFL championships, and the first two AFL -NFL World Championships, later dubbed the Super Bowl."
Starr also coached the Packers from 1975 to 1983.
He is best known for his quarterback sneak late in the NFL championship game of 1967 (which is often referred to the "Ice Bowl" due to the brutally cold temperatures that day) to defeat Dallas and move on to the first ever AFL -NFL championship against Kansas City.
Mr. Starr unfortunately suffered two strokes later in life but still managed to make public appearances including one for the retirement of Brett Farve's number and at a 50 year reunion with the remaining members of that "Ice Bowl" team two years ago.
I remember attending games in both Milwaukee and Green Bay when he played.

...the lack of responses makes sense here I guess as most are not into sports.. Sad, this man put his heart into what he did, just as much as an cinema/television actor or rock star does.
I like sports, but I'm more of a basketball fan.
Oh no! My mum did not mention this and she is a packer fan.
Wow another hero of my childhood gone
I only vaguely know of him, because I was a small kid in his heyday and no one in my family was a big baseball fan. But it's still sad, and I feel for you, kyoto kid; I felt that way when Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew passed away. An important part of your childhood--and adult memories--is gone.
Maybe it's just that I'm not a spring chicken any more but it seems like the last couple years we've lost more well-known and respected figures than in earlier years.
Rest in peace, Mr. Starr
...thank you
Losing Carrie and Peter was sad for me as well, both their characters were Iconic and I liked Lea's "feisty" nature in the first two films. Peter, through his gestures and body language, gave Chewie an incredible personality
Loved Carrie in another film she had a role in which one of my all time favourites, The Blues Brothers, as Jake's former girlfriend who was gunning for him all; throughout the film.
