It's more of a non-transferable piece of personalized digital art than a 3D asset or something like that. What the winner of the bid basically got, is a (somehow or somewhat) animated picture of him-/herself wearing the dress. It isn't even really clear whether the dress used to generate the picture is a 3D asset or a selection of looping images layered over the portrait photo.

Uhhhh... not sure what idiot paid that much for that, but... well, I won't comment any further than that
I wouldn't mind having customers like that :P
And to think, the typical Daz user balks at paying 30 bucks for assets way more complex than a dress.
I even bet it was mostly done with AI software and very little 'human hands' were involved.

Just as perplexing - there are numerous services which will generate fake vacation photo sets for use on social media.
