Definitely, I like Owen and Vladimir the best as what little I use of G8 I seem to use these guys the most. Sanjay is a definite 3rd place spot...I really love his look and have wanted to see this type of character for a long time. But Michael might fight him for that spot from time to time.

I use Michael 8 as a base and make my own.
i just realized,pondering this question, i have no go to g8s. i load up leo7 or gianni 6
Ollie or Floyd for really changing up things, Edward has this rugged handsomeness I really like.

Owen is defintiely my favorite.
The ones I use most are Owen (for a young man), Edward (for an middling one) and Floyd (for older - though I also like Mr Woo), then usually a few morphs to make them "mine".
Ravi for g8m and Christian for g8m are my two favorites, other than that I really like Sai for Sanjay 8 and Liam for Edward 8. There's a few characters I really want to get my hands on, but haven't been able to yet, so I'm sure that my favorites will be added to sooner or later ^^
For mixing, Ollie and Floyd are incredibly useful. Aesthetically, I'm most impressed by Mr. Woo, but even though I bought him, I know that he won't be used all that often except as a very subtle mix-in element. The G8 male base that I actually use the most is Edward, but, to be honest, I still prefer to use the G7 males most of the time since, despite the fact that there are only half as many G3 bases as G8s, they still have a wider range of character types. G8M's one big saving grace has been in older figures, where it excels, but the fact that DAZ said a long time ago that there wouln't be a Teen male base for G8 really cripples it for me.

Of the core figures, the ones I like the most are Ollie, Lee, Sanjay, Owen, Mr Woo, Floyd, and Edward.
Of the non-core figures, the ones I like the most are Fergal for Landon 8, Novak, Luca, and Marc for Michael 8.
Those are just the ones that I have that I like a lot. There are quite a few others that look really good too, I've just not had a chance to pick them up and render them.

This! I find it odd that users would use core characters out of the box and not make them unique for their artwork, especially with all the morphs that are avaliable.
Edward is my favorite.
Thats my feeling too. I also tend to have different tastes than a lot of people, favoring certain features. Customization seems to be the only route for me.
Darius 8 is my most used base shape for bodies, followed by Brute 8 and Vladimir 8.
PA characters, I like Ronen, Marcius' Luc, and Maxx.
I can't say I've been really crazy about any of the Michaels in the Genesis era. They're always the first attempt to bend the mesh beyond the basic G(1,2,3,8)M figure and seem more generic than the later iterations, and if I want generic I can just start with G8M. That said, like most above, I've rarely used any figure/character I've bought straight out of the box except in test renders. What's the point of that when the whole point of Genesis is how quickly they can be modified? That said, whereas I used to spend hours dialing up charaters just for the fun of it, these days I tend to buy a lot of figures just for their skins or basic look. This is where Ollie and Floyd have really stood out for me in the G8M line, as just a tiny bit of them rolled into another character can change them significantly. Of course, if there's one male character that stands supreme as the ultimate dial-in add, it's George/George 8. A little George makes almost eveerything more interesting.

Owen, Edward and Floyd
Like a lot of others, of the core characters, Owen, Edward and Floyd.
Outside that, probably Robert, who I decided was a good base for a major character in one of my stories.
There are reasons. Aside from the simple "I like the character the way they are, and don't want to customise them just for the sake of uniqueness" reason, another possible argument is the more morphs involved, the more approximate the increasingly layered corrective morphs for bends, expressions, etc become.
One of my most used G8F characters uses the G8F head shape almost verbatim other than a slight change to the shape of the chin, because having no morphs on her face means that there's no stacking corrective morphs, giving her a smile that could cure cancer.

My favourites are Darius 8, Michael 8, Vladimir 8 and Sanjay 8. But I didn't buy all G8M base characters (I have sooo many G3M's...).
I have a crazy number of G3Ms too, though at the way they keep dropping Pro Bundles out, I'm catching up quick with the G8Ms just from the characters that come with the bundle promotions. There was another thread recently that pointed out that there have been over 40 Genesis 8 pro bundles so far and we're easily going to pass the 50 mark with this generation.
Novak is my absolute favorite standalone PA character. I use his body morph for Batman because he's got such a fantastic balance of grace and strength. Fiore and Beast are tied for close second place; they're beautifully distinctive and fun to build on. And even though I've never rendered Luca out of the box, he's one of my most used products because dialing in a bit of his morph on an adult character adds a little stylization and prettiness without looking cartoony.
For official characters my favorites are Lee, Sanjay, Vladimir, and Ollie (who I use as a base for the Joker, usually with Jonah). And Reth specifically got me to buy the Nix pro bundle at release.
