Hats off to Aeon Soul

Alphakini aside,  I really have to applaud Aeon Soul for designing futuristic clothing that in addition to actually looking futuristic also looks like clothing real people would wear.  Especially when it comes to an assortment of shoes without ridiculous high heels.

It's really come to the point now where I'll often see a great costume in the Daz store, but have to pass on it, because of the way it's designed, and I don't have anything I can kit bash it with to eliminate the footware which doesn't fit at all unless you're just doing cheesecake.

Now if they'd just release Spooky Girl as an HD add on. cheeky

That new one looks like it would be comfy. I also appreciate that they use consistent texturing that you can kitbash any of their products together.

I'm like the only one here who doesn't think the promo girl looks creepy. She looks weird in the promos because she's usually the only stylized human there. You could probably dial-spin something close. The only tricky parts is finding a good "round eyes" morph, making her face a bit round, and smoothing the upper part of the cheeks near the eyes.

What's wrong with the Alphakini? angel

As for the shoes, gladly all the sets mix and match very well, and both Tau Ceti and Holoflow have something with sort-of-heels, though I'd love to see Aeon create some sort of thigh highs with morphing heels to be done with the heels (so one boot with stiletto, regular, wedge and heelless morphs, matching the style of the outfits), even as a standalone I'd buy it, and merrily buy new outfits with flats knowing I could mix those in. Result: Everybody happy. New outfits don't need heels, while people who do want heels just need those morphable boots.

I think some people simply find the eyes, uh, I'm not sure what word to use without it reading as critical.  The rest of her form is quite normal with a rather cute "button" nose.  But we as a species are hardwired to focus upon eyes as they are the organs that can focus upon us in turn.  If something is "odd" about them, it can trigger a 'fight or flight" reaction, even if we bury it within our subconscious.  Her eyes are just very, VERY reflective, to the point the detail of the iris and pupil are washed out.  If we can't see those details, the eyes seems "blank" to us.  Is she looking at us or elsewhere?  That uncertainty unnerves us.

As for the rest of Alice's face and body, well, as the tacky expression goes, "I certainly would not push her out of bed for eating crackers!"  Just get some eyes drops, okay?  wink

    Sincerely,

    Bill

Yeah, it's the eyes. They look like they were never designed to close. Which seems just *uncomfortable*.

I personally think Aeon's Alice character works better in fantasy settings (I think I've seen characters by either Frazetta, Amano or one of the Vallejos with eyes like that) where you just imagine her as some kind of exotic nonhuman or former human, rather than in science fiction, where you find yourself wondering what cruel technology made her look that way. Their older work at renderosity and RDNA seemed to favor fantasy over science fiction, although the latter has always tended to be more strongly represented at DAZ, it seems like.

I absolutely love the "Alice Look" and was pretty incredulous when I first heard that she's NOT as popular as *I* think she should be.  I'd buy her G8F incarnation in a heartbeat!  She just has such a unique, iconic look.

    You are not alone.

I see Alice and I'm reminded of Gary Mitchell and Elizabeth Dehner from the second pilot episode of Star Trek, "Where No Man Has Gone Before".  They are both latent "espers" and their abilities start to exponentially grow when the Enterprise contacts a kind of "galactic barrier".  A side effect of that power gives them silvery, reflective eyes.  Alice's are quite similar.  Given the old school Trekkie I am, I rather expect she can crush my skull like a grape with just a thought.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

I wish they made more males clothes. I really like the one outfit they did for G3M but they haven't made more since :(

I know, I use that G3M outfit a lot :D it converts pretty well to G8M at least. And some of the female outfits have jackets, pants, and even boots that can convert pretty well to makes too. Would still love to see more clothing originally designed for men from them though :) .

Yeah I agree, I'd also like to see them design more male clothes.   The "Cyberpunk Everyday Clothes" is my go-to set when I want a male civilian in a futuristic setting.  It looks extremely practical.

I love Aeon Soul and I have all of their new stuff from the Daz store but I miss they older sexy fantasy half necked stuff from their previous lives

They have been great with material zones though. Look at something like Y'vas, you can get that down to a few leather straps... But if you just cut out all of that material and only release the 80% naked version, then people who want more clothing will skip it. A lot easier to take pieces away when they are already zoned to do so.

I still sometimes manage to bully a figure into their old M4 outfit. Don't think I've tried it with G8, but I used it regularly with G1 and I think once with G2 without that much of a hassle.

ETA: Okay, I had to go and try it. Here is G8M in Narquelir'Kiir. This is the Unimesh fits version. I'd originally loaded Christian 8 but then I dialed him out, so this should be the base G8M morph. Didn't much change the fit of the outfit.

The pants are fine. And -- this was a surprise -- the *shoes* are basically fine. There's a bit of poke through on the sides of the instep, but the soles haven't even crumpled. Despite G8 being flat footed while gen4 always loaded with the feet pointed. Admittedly I don't know how it would take to being posed, but I suspect reasonably well.

The shirt seems to be a dead loss, which is a shame. And it *really* wouldn't take to posing. Even in T pose it was hoplessly broken in the armpit area.

But for an outfit that's coming up on a decade old*, it's doing pretty well!

*Unimesh fit version came out in the summer of '09. The original outfit in '08.

I’m also a huge fan of their work, and not just the amazing outfits. Their pose sets are top notch as well. I don’t know of any other sets that breathe life and a sense of movement and “weighted-ness” as well as theirs do. Alice has really grown on me since I first encountered her to the point that I love seeing her featured in each new product AS releases.

And it probably goes without saying that their promo renders are fantastic...

Agreed, but I think the CS01 pose sets are a significant step beyond Aeon Souls previous sets and pretty much all other "action" poses. Just my $2.

They are nothing short of magnificent, some of the best pose artists are animators, and I'm surprised that they don't offer animation pose sets as the balance, and weightiness of their sets screams animator!

Yeah,  I'm always getting ideas from them just looking at many of their promos.  There are a few PA's that don't seem to realize that the best costume or prop around can be undone with bad promo renders.

Especially in price, LOL. I find that some of their pose sets many times don't make much sense in the movement, like they are too exaggerated.

While I agree the AS are very talented, I don't buy much from them. Partly because I like their older, more sexualized fantasy styled stuff and it seems like their newer, DAZ stuff is more scifi, covered up types of outfits which I really don't have much use for. And partly because I don't like or understand their lets retire everything older policy
