Question about "Thank you for your support"

TavTav Posts: 46

Hi,

Got the "Thank you for your support" banner announcing I get a $50 off daz originals, but it doesn't seem to work. The banner doesn't say anything about it requiring additional purchases, but also says it replaces the $30 offer for the new figure bundle. So the question is, is this just an upgrade of that discount and I need to buy the bundle for it, or does it just not work as it should? If it just upgrades the other discount, then maybe the banner should say something like "with the purchase of the bundle", because in that case I got excited for nothing :p

It says 'This offer replaces the currant offer', to me it was reasonably clear especially as it links to the Sanjay 8 offer, so yes it replaces that offer with a better perk.

Yeah, probably :( That's a pity, because I have no interest in that figure. Oh well.

I think you're right on both counts - it just upgrades the $30 offer, and it should say so explicitly. Maybe they'll change it when they get into work at Daz HQ.

Well, seems you have to add Sanjay 8 Pro !!! into you cart to get the $70 "free" items.

And although they have different "names" .... both links (  Daz Original Select Items and items found on the Sanjay 8 promotional page go to the https://www.daz3d.com/introducing-the-new-sanjay-8#featured )

Damn! 70$ but only IF i buy Sanja 8 Pro AND IF i can finde something from the selection DAZ is forcing on me

Isn't it nice to have a free choice? ;)

    DAZ First! ;)

I don't know if it varies but the products I was offered for $50 were older and in my mind, obsolete. The last time I went for such a promotion I ended up with clothes full of poke through problems and other quality issues. Some promotions are really good, I guess it depends on your needs.

Yeah, that's an issue sometimes. I usually check the artist and what I already have of theirs, and if that item sucks (like this for example https://www.daz3d.com/casual-dayz-for-genesis-8-females ) then I don't buy anything else by that artist.

I'll take old and obsolete stuff for free, because maybe it will be what I need for a render down the line. What is annoying is the advertising technique that is used.

    "HEY! FREE STUFF! *

    * if you pay for it"

You may own the newer stuff because Langdon pro and other more recent stuff was among the offers I saw but sadly I am both short on cash and not in PC+ so simply cannot afford Sanjay right now lovely as he is.

    What's wrong with that product?

just looks bad in my opinion, especially the jacket, like clothes from from 2 generations back. I guess it's down to personal preference

Define "older" and "obsolete"? Since I could scroll down for miles before I even reached the Genesis 3 area. Which, in my opinion, may be older, but is FAR from obsolete. The differences between G3 and G8 are too neglible to not use Genesis 3 when it has something that perfectly suits your needs. dForce? Ha, the choice of dForce assets is still terribly limited compared to what's available in regular clothes, to the point that I doubt dForce assets available will really be able to replace a sizable amount of conforming assets for the next 5 years.

I don't think the point of Daz Studio is to have the most recent assets.
The point is to create an image or animation that suits your needs, and there are dozens of older assets which have absolutely NEVER been recreated in any way for later generations, which effectively means those assets can not be considered obsolete by any means. Most artists simply do NOT create any "new upgraded to latest generation" version for their older assets. A lot of artists even left the style or genre some of their older assets were created for, and moved on to new styles with new challenges to express their creativity. In some cases older assets might be a bit more niche, but many of them are actually fairly mainstream in design. Just not done again in that particular manner either by the original artist or any other artist.

Teacher/educator/grammar nazi here... I agree that it looks like you have to buy Sanjay to trigger the new offer, but it's worded so poorly, with a period at the end of the initial sentance, that it looks like the buyer is simply being gifted $40 worth of free Daz goodies as a thanks for prior purchases. Since it says it is replacing the initial offer, which does have buying Sanjay as a prerequisite, and that pesky period is in there, I can completely see why taureor read it the way that he did. I did, as well. Poor grammar - Daz marketing needs a proofreader. Okay, back to grading my students' term papers, he he he...devil

Yeah the wording is poor and also suggests DAZ originals not just that selection

I did assume as it was replacing it was same terms though ie buying Sanjay 8 Pro but also thought  meant any DAZ originals

Some of the older figures may still be good but the stuff you put on them can be junk. I refuse to buy anything older than Genesis 3. Sanjay 8 is a good deal but I don't need Sanjay nor do I have much interest in the freebies. I don't see an advantage investing in M4/V4 and similar for the long term. This current sale is fantastic for others. "There will always be another sale" so the wallet is ready. Just need to wait.

It's very typical of a base named figure release to have multiple offers, and it's a nice gesture from Daz to recognize those of us who've been buying the Pro bundles with extra incentives when a new figure is released.

We are all hit with the dilemma, at one time or another, of any given banner offer not fitting our needs or missing the mark on our finances. There will be more offers, and not just on Pro bundles. Some will work for you. Some will not.

Not much different than the weekly grocery ads in your local newpaper. Buy one, get one free is nice, but if the offer is on Coke and you drink Pepsi…? You just wait another week or so for the Pepsi to go on sale.

In general you're right, but it all goes back to the unfortunate and deceptive wording. A bunch of free stuff is mych different from a bunch of free stuff if you buy something else. That banner was a pleasant suprise that lead to disappointment :)

I see lots of recent G8 stuff in the list. Are you perhaps looking at the 5 for $12 list instead of the list linked in the Sanjay offer?

  • mwokeemwokee Posts: 1,275
Yes the 5 for 12 has a lot of old junk. Doesn't matter I'm talking about sales in general. Some sales it's best not to buy anything. I've regretted purchasing items for $1.

    Really?

I often have the most fun while trying to get the 'old junk' to look nice in Iray.

I couldn't resist adding the five old items onto the already full Sanjay 8 cart - Yikes I'm on baked beans for the rest of the month....Hope the Sanjay female isn't also for release this month....

I agree - "Daz want's to thank you for your LOYALTY and PAST PURCHASES to show you appreciation we are GIVING YOU.  It's misleading.
