Question about getting rid of lights which don't appear on the scene tab - Resolved

Usually, when I use a light product, I can see it in the scene tab. If I decide I don't want to use the lights or want to switch them out, it's easy - I just delete from the scene tab. However, about 30 % of the time, I use a light and it doesn't show in the scene tab. Then I can't get rid of it. So, for example, perhaps a lingering purple light remains on the character, but I don't know what to click on to remove it. Hope that makes sense.
Any advice?

If all else fails, Edit> Delete> Delete all Lights ? If it is greyed out, there should be no lights (apart from HDRI, headlamp, emssives) in scene.
Next time it happens, I can come back to this thread and state which light product results in this issue for me.
When I've checked the lights tab, the light product has not been identified there (on those times when I'm trying to delete a light, but can't find it) or anywhere in the scene tab (i.e., not parented). I don't know if it is an HDRI related thing. Basically, I click on a light product in smart content to try out various lights. If I don't like what I get, I sometimes "undo" or just delete from the scene tab. On ocasion, neither of those methods work, and that is when I don't know where to delete the product from.
Ok, I will try that next time. Thanks @simonJM and @almightyquest
One of the objects in your scene might have an emissive material in which case it wouldn't show up as a light in the scene tab. Here's a link to a short video that explains emissive materials:
Highly recommended, because it will give you a list of all lights, and a way of manipulating them: https://www.daz3d.com/iray-light-manager-pro
OMG! I’ve spent countless hours trying to figure out how to delete lights from a scene, and I own this program. Sheesh!
It just happened again with bokeh studio hdr lights (which I love). The bokeh effect stayed even when I started a "new" render/got rid of the old scene.
Edit, delete, delete all lights didn't work for this particular light source. Thanks to the advice above, I figured out it is an HDRI in this instance, and how to turn it off. Both tips will be helpful, so thank you. And @beemckay, I have that product. Time to learn how to use it I suppose!
Thanks everyone.
