I getting my PC with the new GPU and a fresh harddrive up and running and I am thinking about trying DIM out (don't have much of a choice since I need to use the beta version). I have my complete library backedup and in the past I just copied it over and set the paths and all was good. if I install DIM, will the files still install into the default location and will it affect my saved scenes when I try to reopen them?
Is there a way to install the beta and not use DIM?

You must use DIM to install the beta, but that doesn’t mean you have to use it to install your content too if you don’t want to.
DIM installs content and programs wherever you tell it to in its preferences.
About your saved scenes, they should contain relative paths to the content used, so as long as the content is installed in a folder listed as a content directory in DS they should work, even if the path to that directory changed.
Thanks Leane, guess I'll give it a try. It's amazing how many things you have to d/.l and configure when you start fresh, LOL
WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you run DIM for the first time run it in Offline mode otherwise it starts to download and install on its own. You can set where you want files downloaded to and installed through Preference, just click on th little cog icon.
if i used DIM to d/l my entire prod lib, can it tell me how much hard drive space i need?
When I have had to download into new computers, I have done full selections, and found my full file size, then did a modified selection, as I am limited to 1Tb a month of data and my roommate had two websites he maintains and I had 3 at the time. So, I moved my files over a period of 4 months, starting with the most used, or basic, to the least used.
