Looking at this, I'm wondering what rendering options there are?

(This includes what rendering engines are available and what their quality is like? Photo Real for example).

Does this tutorial give a giude that makes it straightforward just to get an item into unreal and render, just for testing purposes?

  • I'm still on the first part but he uses 4.18.3 in the first part and I think it will be the same for the 2nd part.

So not to part where you start the rendering.

Can you use Daz environments like Urban Future 5 in Unreal, or is it just characters.

it might be resource-heavy; so, no clue here.

I'm kinda new into the Unreal stuff, but I think so.  Stonemason most always includes an .OBJ version... So, you could download, extract, and import those - though there are usually some issues with normals and such.  You could also export the whole thing from Studio, and import that OBJ file, but size could be an issue. You could also open the OBJ versions in Blender, build up the scene, maybe make a few LOD, and export it all as a .FBX file, which Unreal would like better.

Take everything I've said with a grain of salt, because I may have misspoken or missed something because of my newness, so look into it on youtube and in the Unreal documentation, but from what I can see, I'm pretty much sure you can do it, even if there's a little extra work involved. A lot of the plans in my head that are the reason I'm getting into these tools relies on it - so I hope I'm not mistaken. :)
