Is Daz going to make a "standard" Anime and Toon figure?

I have been a fan of the old figures like A3, Belbel and Aiko toon; although that's the last I saw about figures that resemble anime or toon style figures.

I think there is a lack of such figures; except few stylized characters; especially if you are looking for something that fall in the anime style (like MMD figures to give an idea), or in the stylized cartoon/toon area (for example like the Disney animated characters).

I like Sakura; which seems anime, but the content is really not that much; beside few characters and hair style.

I had to hunt down fundamentally figures outside DAZ to get good rigged meshes; although I would rather have a DAZ product that I can integrate in the Genesis ecosystem; so I don't have to buy every time the same items for different figures, and end up with 10 different sets of anime clothing, that fit only on the respective figure. I would rather buy one or 2 figures (one anime, one toon), and then get 10 sets of clothes for that figure :)

There is a Universal Anime Head over at HiveWire3d that would do the job I reckon.

you can create universal (male, female, adult, teen, child, chibi) Anime "composite" figures, using ANY figure body you like.

    maybe an option for you.

There seem to be sevearl of toon&nime products for the Genesis figures.. but I guess they don't fit your taste/expectation? Example:

  • Daz seem to prefer creating Toon/Anime characters as Add-ons to its main Genesis characters.  In a way this is a good thing as the Toon character will have access to most (if not all) of the hair, clothing and skin textures the parent figure can use.  Unless you demand the upmost in realistic details I would recommend Genesis 1 as it has the most versatility.

    https://www.daz3d.com/hiro-5  (Pro Version https://www.daz3d.com/hiro-5-pro-bundle)

All of these have separate Head morphs,  and can be blended with other genesis shapes to create a variety of characters.  Genesis 1 also has add-ons that allow the use of clothing and hair from Gen 3 to Gen 7 characters.

There are some people on these forums who will go to the ground debating what "anime" looks like, but I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about.

For the true anime look that you're talking about (re:MMD) with Genesis there is reallyonly Kururu for G3. There's also Haru by Chocolate007 but the model is very erotic and very clearly created for a very specific type of content which put me off of it. Everything else is a strange pseudo-anime bastardization. There's plenty of toon stuff, but nothing like disney as far as I can tell.

SFM has a good selection of quality anime models, but you'd need to custom import and rig them for DS which is beyond anything I've done.

Right now, Sakura and Hiro 5 are my go to's.  I also have H3 and A3 shapes for Genesis (1).  I recomend getting Visual/Manga Style Shaders and/or pwToon as well.  If you're not already aware, check out the Anime Cafe thread here for more help-: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/295231/anime-cafe#latest

Tofusan made a cute anime head morph for Genesis 3.

Sakura 8 includes a variety of extra shape morphs that let you really dial in a more anime style. For example there are several nose morphs to alter her nose to be more anime or more "human", like eliminating the nostrils. She can be as anime as want her to be.

AnimeDoll I feel is pretty classic anime style...the top of this page has more options: https://poserdazfreebies.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Anime

Sadly most of those that I wanted are no longer available. Belbel, ChibiBel, NearMe, Terai Yaki 2 - they all seem to be gone.

Muwawya has some new characters, costumes, poses, etc. for G3M/F and G8M/F at the "other place".  They also have the classic AnimeDoll and the newer AnimeDoll for G2.

    It would be awesome !!

Personally I think Geograft is the most logical approach to get true Toon or Anime Style figures rather than "pushing/forcing " idea  to  build stylized/toon/anime new figures

The truth is never about body shape. There are plenty morphs ( free and commercial ) for transforming  DAZ figure `s into Stylized ones .

Common issues mostly about eye`s shape which almost impossible to get it right if they`d sculpted based on realistic head . Thats why G3F Stars and Sakura 8 using "special eyes" to make it close enough with natural Toon or Anime look

If you have chances to try Deco /Kururu Head for G3F/G8F or Frankesteining all genesis models with Cookie/Chip head you`ll be instantly recognize Toon/Anime look without too much effort .

Echoing what Universal Anime Head/Chibi creator said .we dont need more figures . We`re just need more head shape/styles with specific features

Agreed that anime is varied. But then, I look at a lot of anime and manga artwork, so I get confused when y'all are talking about "anime style", because it's like, "Which one did you mean specifically? Or at least which time period, 1970s? 1980s? 1990s? 2000s? etc."

There's also Star 2.0 for Genesis 3 Female..  not a Daz-O I know, but Genesis 3 is, ans she can easily wear a ton of clothing.

  • If you have Gen X and the A3 addon, You can get the Aiko 3 shape into Genesis 3. I had to put A3 morphs into Genesis 2, the copy the shape morph into Genesis 3. It worked well.

  • I've been using Genesis 8 and Cartoonized, but it doesn't offer a lot in terms of eye customization.  Sakura 8 comes with custom cartoony eyes, but unfortunately there isn't a good male counterpart to go with.

Was tempted to pick up Paige and Pace during a recent sale, but they're a bit too specifically designed - i.e. I can't imagine making them look like older characters, or them fitting well with hair and clothing that wasn't created with that style in mind.  But then apart from Cartoonized for G8M and G8F, there aren't really any toon characters this generation that have both male and female versions.

I'm starting to think I should've hedged my bets (impulse purchases) on Genesis 3 and earlier. A lot of Genesis 2 outfits I've seen even tend to look geared more toward a cartoony style, while my G8 outfits veer more toward high detail.
