Toon shader messes up around the character's hairline

Hi I am using a toon shader on my character's face and torso and I finally have it looking pretty good, but it causes blotchiness around the character's hairline. I think the blotchiness mostly occurrs in areas where the hair line is part transparent and you can see some scalp, because it goes away higher up on the head.

Ive have tried two different hair stules and it happens with both.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Which toon shader are you using, and do you have some render examples? Anything that generates outlines tends to have issues with anything with transparency. Removing transparency/opacity maps can sometimes work, depending on how the hair is modeled. The Oso Toon shaders in the store here also have a method for generating outlines using material ID which can often give better results with transparency maps.

The problem is there isn't enough colors in the palette to match with toon shading. You'll need to make the hair cap 100% invisible or don't use a set texture maps on the hair cap at all. Then you'll get too much scalp showing likely and so you'll need to fix that how you choose, maybe with multiple instances of the same hair or use different hair at once.
