    The story continues -

Dwarf Prince Moxel is astounded by his father's latest bizarre plan for his future.

"You will go to America and bring home a beautiful and tall American bride. I want grandchildren and I am tired of this family being so short."

Outside, hapless aviator Randall Bixley, lost in a snowstorm, looks hungrily in upon the scene, with no inkling that he will soon be drawn into the old king's scheme.

    Biplane
    Celebrations for Baroque Grandeur
    Winter Kingdom Castle Ruins
    Genesis Supersuit (chained)

    Also used:
    GOM Dwarf for Genesis
    PH Fantasy Hair
    PH Classic Hair
    Diner Food 3 and 5
Magnificence for Baroque Grandeur Dinner Service

ROFL Luci - I see Borat all over in this! Thx goodness you left the mankind out ;)

OMG, Borat???!!! I do see some similarity but, but.. I was really trying to forget I ever saw that movie. I guess that's what happens. I don't know what you mean about "left the mankind out" and am afraid to ask. (There will be no naked fight scene in this story because of the TOS.)

I love your latest, the Neutered Pitbull jazz group. I can almost hear them.

    tag:luci45#4

    Tyrnea-raheal for Royal Elf
    Pumps and Stocking For V4A4G4
    Lionfish
    Fantasy Pack for Supersuit (chain)

Grateful to the two strangers for rescuing her from her cruel and insulting boyfriend, the lovely Vicki Voorhees agrees to accompany them to her favorite shoestore and allow them to buy her a few pairs of shoes. Prince Moxel, tired of wearing servants clothes, sports a cool outfit and equally cool haircut, while, to Moxel's annoyance, the alleged Prince Randall wears an elf costume.

Will Prince Moxel bring home a tall bride and elevate the height of future generations in his family line? Will Miss Voorhees be angry when she finds out Randall is a pennyless (and hapless) aviator? Is Prince Moxel even interested in pursuing his father's (bizarre) plan? These and other questions may or may not be answered in the next installment.

Just do as we all do when we pull crap, put something up render, post close your eyes, cross your fingers and hope the next one is better.

Done that so many times, that's why we all post really lousy ones from time to time.

That is the kind of thing that pays in the end. RRRR has taught me how to make fun renders and how to match impossible items.

Pull #1 (this will be interesting)

    162 Aslan Court 2
    435 Fantasy Wrap for Genesis
    480 Garden Collection
    828 Moonlit Moonshine's Diner
    962 Praetorian Autoturret

Kyoto, some ideas used by others in the past included dioramas, pictures on the wall, newspaper articles and the like
maybe you could do something like a magazine advertising page set with these items or a travel guide

...that wold require scrapping everything I've already done. Just that it feel like it has dragged on longer than it should have. Hope the next draw will be a little easier to develop a theme for.

    Thanks, barbult and Totte!

Since you asked, barbult, I will try to describe my process on In The Shoe Store. Like most of my 3D renders, this one was an extreme learning experience to me and I did a lot of different things to it that I don't remember. But this is the gist of it:

Starting with the second easiest, the shoe boxes and window. I made the the Lionfish Shoes logo in PS (Photoshop) incorporating a render of the Lionfish and saved it as a PNG so it had a transparent background. I couldn't place it right with the LIE (layered image editor) in DS, so, in PS again, I used the template for the box (McLean's Everyday Morphing Primitives) and put the logos and lables on another layer with a color background and saved it as a texture map for the boxes. Similarly with the windows, I opened the texture map for wall and windows of Moonshines Diner in PS and put logo and other verbiage where I wanted them, then copied the layer, made it grayscale, inverted it and filled in areas with black to make a transparency map for the windows (I had never tried this before.) I saved the layers as .jpgs and applied them to the surfaces in DS.

The easiest part was actually the DOF, which I faked. I always use layers, so I blurred the background behind the figures a bit using a cutout of the figures to make a selection. (I got the cutout by rendering the figures with the background stuff turned off and saving it as a PNG.) The blurring in the front I did by just making a triangular selection and doing a little blur there. I always feather edges so it isn't noticeable.

The lighting is a long story. I used a lot of layers with one or two lights on each and composited in PS, tweaking the transparency percentages, usually blending with "Screen", until I was happy with them. UE2 was used, as always, and various distant lights, and AoA's Advanced Ambient Light (out-of-the-box) on the three main figures. There is a bloom effect* on the 3 figures and another slight bloom effect on the whole thing from a Filter Forge filter. I also put a vignette around it to darken the corners a little.

*The bloom effect is a very cool thing I learned about from bohemian3 when doing an RRRR last year. I use it a lot. Here is a link he gave me that explains it really well. http://www.oferz.com/Tutorials/BloomEffect/BloomEffect.html

And here is my next pull:
    Songbird ReMix Pose Pack 2
    Neo Station
    Albatross
Supersuit Fantasy Pack Genesis (Chain) - I'm really having fun this; never used it much before.

I just realized that I forgot to post my latest draw. So....

    Draw #2:
1586 - Rider Poses for DAZ Horse 2
    1062 - Lirio for V4
    1178 - Maria Hair

And the carry-over from Round 1:
Urban Wear for M4 Unimesh Fits

Hmm, a V3 item (Maria Hair). Eh, I can make it fit!

This may take a while; I'm heading to Iowa (yeah, I know!) to start a new assignment, so I'm liable to be kind of busy for a bit....

I'm fighting My Pull's too. It just refuses to match the idea in my mind. The fact I'm fighting like 5 other projects, my health, and my RL all at the same time has something to do with it too, I think.

Great stuff everybody. Keep it up.

Hey! No disparaging remarks about Iowa, please. I grew up there, in Marion. My sister and brother still live in Iowa. Where are you headed?

Edit: Look here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/32454/ if you are headed to Des Moines. (FYI: Des Moines - both esses are silent)
