What Is The Trick To Get Color To Match

In using the genitalia add-ons, what is the trick to get it to match the color of the skin of my model? I spend hours on this and then finally give up and not use the addon because I cannot get the color right.

  • Usually, the best way is to be sure the main skin texture you want to use on the figure has an included option for the anatomical elements; not all will, and even then having a perfect match isn't always guarenteed.

You might try copy and pasting the figure's Torso Surface onto the Gens Surface, then manually go in and switch out the torso texture maps with the gens texture maps. This will ensure that the figure's skin settings are matching the gens settings.

Check to see if Chromatic is being used on either the torso, anatomical elements, or both & change it to Mono. Also, you can save the shader settings for the Torso and then use those saved shader settings to apply to the Anatomical elements. When I've had to fix them, I went through both the Torso & Anatomical Elements surface by surface comparing them. They should be the same except the actual images used in some of the surfaces slots.

    This is my technique too

  • Thanks, everyone. All of this sounds confusing. I have never delved into Studio that deep. I guess I have some learning to do.sad

Is the character that you are getting textures from one from the store here, and does the character come with genital textures? If it does, normally I would expect them to match (or at least not have seams if there is natural color differences). Are you applying any special shaders to the torso that also need to be applied to the genitals surfaces?

I know you can't show images here, but I know one problem I have had in the past has been using Anagenessis 2 to manually apply the shaders. In that specific case the issue was that if I just copy and pasted surfaces, settings that were outside limits copied over at the maximum with limits. I had to manually apply the shader before copying the settings.

  • I am using the Genesis 8 Model Kallisto and she does not come with anatomy options down there. I have tried the anatomy for Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3 add-ons in the Smart Content and I cannot get the color to match. I did try to do what has been suggested above, but with no luck. I also wish DAZ had an add-on for hair down there for the Genesis models.

  • If you are looking for feminine Genesis hair, that is available at other sites.

I'm not sure if those saying copy/paste texture is how I do it. The method I use is to save the torso texture as a shader, apply it to the gen, and then open both textures in say PS and use a clone brush to paint the lower abdomen texture onto the upper gen map so there is a nice transition. Before this you will often also need to adjust the colour balance of the gens to match the torso texture.

This way the whole torso shader and not just its base colour will be applied to the gens.... these days skin set-ups have a quite complex set-up and will not match by just copying the base mat.

You will also need to then replace things like bumps, normals and specular from this new set-up because they a torso ones and need to replaced by the origonal gen ones. I hope all that makes sense.

Edit - I forgot to say that if the origonal gen maps include an opacity map you will need to apply this too, at the same setting as intended. I am talking about male gens here, but I suppose much the same rules apply for female.

Yup this! And if I buy such a product I expect the mats to match, if they don't I will ask for a refund;)

This freebie over at Renderosity might help. Please read the description/instructions (you need to rename a folder) because it can be used on G8 females, too

According to the "what's included" for Kallisto, the anatomical elements texture is included.   You are using the G8F anatomical elements that only came in the Pro-Bundle, aren't you?

  • Hello, is there any recommended model which allows you to put on the female genitalia (vagina) directly, just like the nipples, we can select it on the shape tab? Instead of changing the surface which might result in the issue of matching the color of the torso
