Wow..everything is so cool. So many ideas for images in my head. Every product beckons me to spend my money, that I have so little of.
Control myself....

I have spent that much.  Several time over, in fact. And yeah, it's really easy to buy a bunch of stuff that then sits in your runtimes unused.  Fortunately I can write off most of what I buy, but even so...

I haven't spent that much, but only because most of what I have purchased has been on sale to one degree or another. Looking at the base price of those purchases, then indeed the total is over 10K.

Yeah, I felt that way too when I first switched over to DS and then Iray showed up, and then the G3's, etc....but 4 years in, I'm starting to get saturated again ;)

yeah, but then you would have to find it inside DS to use it, LOL.

  • I don't usually try to find things anymore; I do a zen 'search' for something that thematically fits with my vision, and scroll through what I get.  I let the content find me... it's quicker than searching for something speicifc ;-)

I install everything manually so I know what I have and where it is and I never use DIM or smart content, this way I can have an idea for a scene and go right to the products I need.

  • That would be _a lot_ of installing.  It's enough I have to install half my content (from The Other Place (TM)) manually... that doesn't help me remember what it's called.  The more I use a product, the more I remember its name so I can find it.  I remember content better than people, so it's all good :-)  Besides, I find my ideas evolve as I find bits and pieces... it doesn't spring, Athene-like, from my brain - unfortunately or not ;-)

Ditto. and I use windows search when I know the name of th item I need to look for so it gives me all files  including the textures associated with the keyword  I used.

Some day I'm just going to go to my purchased history list and randomly pick things I've never used. I'll probably be dead before I get to use everything...

I use THE STORE as my library. I search the store for stuff and choose what I own from the results.

Also have a browser folder for things that show up with misleading names that I'd never find on my own.

Sometimes it's weird to become enthralled by a new release and find that you already own something better that you forgot about.

A lot of things I own are already removed from the store so I have to use my purchase list....

The problem with that is that DAZ deletes almost all of the backdata for the store when they dicontinue the item... or sometimes just for no real reason at all... so while you can find the items you own in your product library, you can't bring them up in a scan of the store itself.  The last time I checked I had well over a thousand items that I'd purchased at DAZ don't show up in the store, nor will the data show up in TaoSOft's otherwise excellent DAZ Account Manager.  By cntrast, Renderosity never deletes a product page, though they may truncate some of the older graphics, but they don't have a way to look at a collection of items that you own by category.

Oh my number was with a hell of a lot of sale prices. Anyone who buys anything at DAZ at full price is just being foolish unless they've got a commercial gig that will pay for the cost of the item.  But iIf you want to go by the full price value of what I've bought I can give you that number via the DAZ deal's browser, it's... let's see.... $234,734.00  so, just short of a quarter of a million dollars, but you have to consider that that's counting everey freebie and every PC item I've bought since 2006 at the full price..:

Wow! I am just a small time hobbist but I have the opposite problem. I am pretty saturated with content for what I want to do and am wondering how I am going to spend my Prime coupons the next several months.

Oh no.That aint good. Usually I find the weird and obscure stuff when I do a search for FILES instead of products. You get some really strange results.

I think I've hit saturation... except that I still have wishlists in several stores ;-)  Between actual figures, props, scenery, lights, special FX, morphs, post-work goodies... there's almost always another thing I desperately want/need.  It doesn't seem to matter that I'm a hobbyist... I wish it did. ;-P

You don't have to use them. I'm happy with using an average of only one of them per month. That covers the cost of membership IF I paid full price.
