I'm still thinking of buying a PC for DAZ Studio

I really would love being able to load a scene without bringing my computer to its knees. I'd love the ability to render a complex scene in a decent amount of time. It's been a difficult consideration for me. I'll still always love my Macs for what they do. I'm not very good with my money.
I could likely afford a new PC if I gave up my monthly pizzas. I anticipate getting close to $1,000 this summer. I should save that money so I can relocate to be closer to my Dad. My Dad is 91 years old, and his health has been quickly degrading in the past 4-5 years. Just thought I'd drop in an mutter a bit. Thanks for listening.

What a dilemma! Aging dad OR monthly pizza OR rendering computer. Hmmm....
If you have special love for your dad, then sacrifice everything, and GO to him.
To pizza or not to pizza is a decision you will have to make repeatedly over and over again each time continually ad nauseum. But it could be easier if every time you want pizza, you look at nice renders that took less than an hour to finish. And then there's requesting from the invisible. Chin up; even the sun goes down.
Don't we all Ron, LOL!
I am still waiting for a good GPU upgrade. the main thing keeping a render from going from the GPU to the CPU is the amount of DDR on the card and the 2 best options are the 2080 ti with 11gig or a 1080 ti with 11 gig and I can't justify the price of the 2080 ti any time soon. If I am going to spend $1200-$1400 on a new video card, I might as well get a new PC to go with it, LOL.
It's a tool, and I'd always get the best tool for the job.
... Currently that's a Windows based PC; doesn't mean you can't still use your Mac for other stuff.
Whilst a new PC is bad for the wallet, it is a lot better for the waistline than pizza. (All that fat is not good; fortuneately not that much sugar in a pizza, so not a double-wammy of badness.)
I confess that I usually waste at least $100 a month on pizza deliveries. That money could easily go towards a new DAZ Studio PC. DAZ Studio has gotten to the point where it's a professional tool. If we get anything less than the powerful GPUs, etc, we suffer. iRay has much to do with that. I've been at this for around 20 years, and still find myself to be a bumbling amateur. But I do like the ability to express myself. FSMCDesigns, OMG, $1200-$1400 just for a video card is way too much for me. I might as well abandon my amateur dreams.
I just realized I don't have room for another serious computer setup. I could take the 17" HP notebook PC off the recliner computer desk, and place the 27" iMac there. I need to be careful with a computer desk. My body is suffering. I can't lift a heavy case on a frequent basis. I'd want to place the computer case up on a table so I could easily reach it.
If money is super tight, getting a refurbished computer from some source, you can find older Dell and HP's that were intended for business use all over the place (even groupon sells them). Depending on the model I've seen them as low as $200. Then you could pick up a mid range GPU, the 1660ti is only a 6Gb card but going from pure CPU rendering to it would be huge and the cheapest 1660ti I could find is $280. Therefore you could have a low spec render box with a decent GPU that should last for years, for around $500.
Ron,
You could take a look at the new GeForce 1660 TI 6GB. I don't know if it would be enough for what you want, but according to the reviews I've read, it's about the same as a 1070, and at $250, that's pretty good.
Caveat - It's Turing, so it won't work with DS 4.10, only the 4.11 beta.
