  • For those who prefer a written version:

    • Open DAZ Studio and load a figure
    • In the Scene tab, select the figure
    • Export the figure in A-pose: click on File, Export, choose your folder, name the .obj file, and click Save. In the Object Export Options box, under Convert from DAZ Studio, choose Custom. Scale should be 100%. Click Show Individual Settings and check the boxes for Ignore Invisible Nodes, Write Normals, and Write Object Statements. Click Accept
    • Pose the figure in Studio, and then export the pose in the same manner as above. Save as a .duf file without moving the figure from its current position.
    • Open Marvelous Designer
    • Click File, Import, OBJ. Navigate to the folder where you saved the A-pose, exported DAZ figure and open
    • In the Import OBJ dialog box: under Load Type, choose Open; under Object Type, choose Load as Avatar with the box checked for Automatically Add Arrangement Points. Under Scale, choose cm (DAZ Studio). Click OK
    • Create clothing or load a previously saved garment (File, Add, Garment).
    • To import the pose, click File, Import, OBJ. Navigate to the folder where you saved the exported DAZ posed figure and open
    • In the Import OBJ dialog box: under Load Type, choose Open; under Object Type, choose Load as Morph Target. Click OK
    • Once garment is draped to your satisfaction, click File, Export, OBJ and name the garment. In the Export OBJ dialog box, under Object, check the box next to Select All Patterns, deselect the box for Select All Avatars, choose Single Object, Weld, and Thin. Check the box next to Unified UV Coordinates and Unified Texture. Under Scale, choose cm (DAZ Studio). Click OK.
    • In DAZ Studio, with the saved .duf file open, click File, Import, navigate to the folder where you saved the exported MD garment, and open it. In the OBJ Import Options dialog box, under Convert from DAZ Studio, choose Custom. Scale should be 100%. Check the boxes for Read UV Coordinates, Read Surfaces, and Read Material Library. Click Accept.
    • The garment will be imported directly on top of your figure. In the Scene tab, drag the garment to the figure to parent it.

  • I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "layer clones," but the details of your MD garment should export fine. If you use the MD fabrics, you can export them, too, but I prefer to use Studio iray shaders.

  • I don't know if you can drape a garment on more than one avatar, but I do know you can import a prop into MD, for instance a chair. To do that, you would export the chair as an .obj, but use "add" as the Load Type in MD. You can then move the chair into place under the avatar after importing a "sit" pose so the garment drapes over the chair.
