3DCoat or 3DCoat Modding Tool

I was looking on Steam for 3DCoat but saw that the publisher also had another software, 3DCoat Modding Tool. I was considering the latter because it's way cheaper but I want to know if it's good for painting on .OBJs with multiple surfaces, like an exported Genesis figure or on clothing I can't paint on Sculptris for whatever reason. I'm personally more interested in texturing/painting than I am modeling or making morphs. The regular 3DCoat does both, but I'm not too sure about 3DCoat Modding Tool (which is like a limited version) or its limitations (it seemed like non-commercial use to me. But I'm not sure if it's for my own personal use or if I'm allowed to share textures I've made from scratch as freebies.)

EDIT: Tried both. The regular 3DCoat was what I needed. At least based on the demo I tried. It was even smoother for painting than Sculptris. Couldn't import an .OBJ with 3DCoat Modding Tool. Ouch on the price tag, but it seems like it's worth it. I picked a really bad time to test it, since March Madness is coming up.

  • From the write-up it looks like this tool is designed to help people mod video-game assets (and appears to be limited to which games it can work with).

My guess is that it imports and exports game-files only and wouldn't be useable with .obj or other formats normally used with DS/Poser.

^Only a guess though as I don't have the product to test - maybe ask on Steam as it's sold there.
