Can I use G3M merchant resource, modify it and sell it for G8M?

I got this merchant resource.as it is shown as purchased.  I was thinking of making a G8M Character for it.  Possibly make it a G3M/G8M bundle.

I am trying to find the readme for this but I forgot where it would be.  I am trying to figure out how much of a change I need to do in order to make it my own.  I am planing on making two versions of the character, one that is human and the other alien or something like that.  Oh I am getting ideas for the alien version(s) but I think I need to change it to look like a human before changing the colors to make him alien.  I know how to make the texture alien but not exactly how to make it human and different from the original merchant resource.

The generation of the figure shouldn't be a concern - it states "for Genesis 3 Males" in the description much the same way as for clothes, so arguing that were a legally binding part of the licence would mean that we'd be trouble every time we used G3M clothes on G8M.

As far as editing it? I can't say for certain what would constitute "enough" editing, but I would suggest that it should be enough to make it impractical to restore the original textures - a minor image wide colour tweak would be easily undone, but actual editing of details in the image could require massive reconstruction to restore something approximating the original.

You can use G3 clothes on G8 all you want, if you are going to sell them then you will need to look at licensing. Some resources in the past have had notes limiting use, but if you aren't sure about it based on what is in the readme, contact DAZ. They will be able to explain the terms or have the vendor clarify them. That is safer than hoping anyone in the forums had interpreted them correctly, unless the vendor happens to be around and responds here.

The usage rights for Merchant Resources for anything other than the stated figure it's listed for is up to the PA who created it. Some PAs are totally ok with you using their G3 Merchant Resources for G8 figures, other PAs are not ok with that. You have to ask the PA or contact Customer Support and ask them.

I submitted a support ticket and waiting for a response. I would get a G8M resource but I only have about $2.17 or so to spend at Daz.

I had this question a while back and 100 % of the merchants like Morris and all said 'sure, no problem'.  BUT I'd still check in whom ever you purchased from for clarification....

i asked cust support about this last year.   she said the license on the one i asked about didnt specify it was g3 only,

Some merchant resources have restrictions on what generation the texture can be used on so you have to check before buying.

I already got the one in question, because it shows as purchased already. I am trying to see if I can use it for G8M before starting the project.

I'm not sure what you mean by "like Morris", but I can tell you that *not* 100% of G3 MR's are useable on G8. Definitely check the licenses/with Daz.

I got the commercial plan for 3D.sk, is it okay if I take those photos and make a merchant resource.  I paid for the commercial not personal plan.  Or is my only option to create characters but not merchant resource?
