Hi,
Do you customize the products ?
I mean some tasks like :
- Replace the maps by your creations
- Geometry tool - Split/merge surfaces
- Geometry tool - Remove surfaces
- Create new morphs
- Add/modify the bones
- Turn something into geograft

i change shader settings, convert general rigging to blended weight, remove nodes in footwear, resave figures to new, cleanup the morphs folder to only the morphs using, delete the geograft and rigid groups from the duf, seperte hair and haircaps to 2 separate files, create male versions of g3f/g8f clothes. save new uvmap for stretchy looking textues, remap u wrapped gimmick
Sometimes, yep.

Yes, almost always. Not sure if you already customize everything yourself and are just checking on everyone else, or if you are curious about customization. On the chance that you are curious about customization, I have gathered links to related forum threads, YouTube videos, and similar. At the folllowing link, scroll down to the post dedicated to links “external to my thread” and look for the subsection specific to Daz Studio. You will find lots of free resources from our generous community to help customize your assets.

Enjoy.
I quite often do something with the surfaces, including maps I adjust or create myself in Photoshop.
Don't know how to do any of the other stuff you mention... (yet!)
I seldom use anything "out of the box". Perhaps it's greeble, a change in textures, or recombining sets. One of the things I always do, especially with vehicles is remove most of the markings and graffitti. Then I add my own to either match the story in my head, or approximate the real-life markings.
I don't want any of the characters or locations I'm using popping up in someone else's work and looking almost identical, so unless I'm just doing a test render of something I just bought, I tend to customize everything I can. That can range from swapping skins and mixing morphs on figures, or changing out the furniture in a set, to creating new morphs and modifying/creating new textures in photoshop or with shaders. I've also built a few props and set-pieces up from scratch, but nothing impressive enough to consider offering as a freebie yet.
I modify surface settings all the time. In fact as a consumer it's why I've become much more conscious about how the surfaces / material zones are laid out, the quality of the UV mapping, and what surface customization options I have. That ends up being more important to me than the textures that are included with the product.
I rarely do other morphs or alterations. I have done a few when the clothing or prop doesn't quite work the way I need it to. At most I'll use dforms or similar types of modifiers to make small adjustments.
