Why do Now-Crowd Billboard products have big file sizes?

Simply curious. My friend showed me the Now-Crowd Billboard Pack she bought - I think it was the droids one? That one was around 8 GB. It surprised me!

  • Each of the "figures" in a set comes with 12 different horizontal angles and 6 vertical angles, meaning there are 72 images times however many figure sets there are in the product. The set is also primarily images, which are larger file sizes than some other types of content here.

Because each figure had to be rendered in many different poses so the script would work. This created a TON of different textures in various poses

  • they are in effect sprites from what I gather, I don't own them but certainly use the same concept with animated loops I render at different angles of characters to to overlay on scenes in Hitfilm and know how big those files can get!

Yes, there are 72 images plus masks for each "figure" billboard.  With ~30 different billboards in a product, that is a lot of files to download.  However, in your scene there is only ONE image (plus its mask) per billboard so your scenes are light and renders are super fast.

Riversoft bill boards are AWESOME!   I agree they are huge to download. But if you look at all the PNG used in creating them  you can understand better why the downloads are so huge.  I use a external hard drive for all my bill boards props  i have some bill board sets as large as 20 gigs. once you work with bill board props though you understand why they are worth having them for back ground props because they save on computer resources when rendering them .   Large to download yes . but not large when using & rendering them them .   but i do suggest having a separate drive for storing them on , plus it makes life easier when trying to find them to use as well without plugging up your main content drive.

I agree Ivy! They look like top notch products. So much variety and the versatility of it is awesome.

I guess it all makes sense now, thanks for explaining everyone. I'm going to look into getting a few if I have enough next time I have some spare cash.

..yeah I find the city ones very useful.  There's even one for the Zombie Apocalypse. Wish that one was on the sale.
