Email notices of forum posts?

Hi! Is there a way to have emails sent to me when someone posts in a forum where I've had something posted?

Or at least, is there a way for me to receive emails when someone responds to something that I have posted?

  • Click on the gears on the blue bar, select your username to go to your profile, then click on notification settings. There a several options for email notifications for forum threads.
  • Thanks so much for your response! I wonder if my Linux system's Firefox is causing a problem. My gear icon only shows two options: Categories and Recent Discussions
    Neither go to my profile...

Uh, where's my profile? Nothing like that in "Account Information", either. No wonder I have no profile. Never thought of that.

Oddly, I got an email notice of your post here. So if that's working, I wonder why I never get an email when someone posts in a thread where I've recently posted. If that's available through the gears icon, I need to figure out what's wrong here.

Thanks!!! I'll ask the Help Desk and see what they say. Have a great eve, or day, wherever you are :-)

That means you are not logged in. Click the little person icon above the gear and log in.

Click on your name or Avatar image

Now click on the gear icon on that screen, the one in the box next to the word Message.  Then go to "Edit Profile"   and on that page select "Preferences"

Edited to add   you do also have to bookmark threads taht you are interested in, if you didn't start them.

  • Thanks folks. I wasn't offline, I was off-Bing. It occurred to me that since this is a new Linux install, there could be a NoScript setting that still needs to be fixed. Sure enough, "Bing" needed to be unblocked. I'm still leaving Google Tag Manager and Facebook blocked, because, just because.

So apparently the system uses Bing to allow me to see a longer list of options from the gear icon. I checked my preferences and all notifictations were checked. But I didn't know about the need to bookmark threads in order to have your posts' reactions reacted to. So thanks for that bit of info, too. I can hardly keep up with all these need-to-knows... I'm old :-)

Just a quick add-on question, what is a wall? As in "Notify me when people write on my wall." or "Notify me when people reply to my wall comments." I tried to search for it, but that just takes me to wall products in the store. Just wondering.

Something that is not used by the Daz forum software, but was included in the package

I figured it was something designed to prevent graffiti... now I know better.

Thanks. I've been wondering about that for the longest.
