Threadripper 2950x or 2970wx - Worth Spending the Extra Money For The Additional Cores

Getting ready to replace my i7 5930k and 3 way GTX 970 SLI gaming rig.  I already have a RTX 2080 ti, just not sure which Threadripper variant to go with.   You guys think spending the extra few hundred bucks for the 2970wx over the 2950x would be worth it?

    What are you going to be using it for? Iray renders that fit in the GPU memory wouldn't need a particularly powerful CPU, 3Delight however would benefit.

    ...yes for 3DL and Carrara, the more CPU threads the better.  With what I have been seeing on the AweSurface thread, I am vecoming more interested in 3DL again.

    Mostly iRay with Daz and maybe some iClone.  If the 2970wx sped up iRay like maybe by 10 to 20 percent over the 2950x, I wouldn't mind spending another few hundred bucks.
