All about STAR (the figure)

Every so often I see something pop up about STAR and I get curious.

https://www.daz3d.com/star-2-0-for-genesis-3-female

Is there a big history to this figure? As in, is this figure (is or was) a big deal in the Daz Store? - in renders? Any historians here?

I always get tempted to build something around this figure shape/motif and then I think about the task of filling in all the extra pieces.....

a) Where's the male equivalent? [this the closest? https://www.daz3d.com/hiro-5 ]

b) How would I do adults?

c) What about varied accessories and morphs and...and....

And then I feel like I've reached an evolutionary dead end and all I could get are STAR and  a few of her friends, six outfits and then I'd be stuck.

Anyone ever try the various Gen 3 morphs to add more to the base characters? - I mean aging morphs and such.....

---------------------

I like this look a lot and want to explore it.

Not sure if there are enough resources and products to make the Wolrd worth crafting...sad

I mean, how would I do the environments.... ? Arghhhhh

I'd want something cohesive and I'm not sold on the toon look being appropiate.

-------

I think buried in my runtime is an Anime Morph product to make anime characters, but I can't find it. lol

And P.S. the spellchecker isn't working.

Star the standalone figure was released at RDNA a few years ago (sometime in early 2015 IIRC), and she was quite popular at the time. There never was an official male counterpart, Redspark had been working on one at the time but then Real Life got in the way... But there's a freebie male morph called "Comet" available on shareCG. The same freebie artist also has autofit clones to fit clothes from A3, V4, G1 and G2 to Star.

The figure was moved in the store here when Daz bought RDNA, and the G3 version was released some time after that.

Here's a thread where you can see pictures for the original Star! from when she was moved here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/74048/star/p1

And one from when the G3 version was released: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/109051/star-2-0-for-g3f-whoot/p1

Thank you for the update and extra info.

That thread is awesome. It's great to see some of the big regulars gushing.

Star 2.0's head morph can be dialed in by itself so if you get GenX2 and the G3 add-on (https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2 and https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3), you could transfer her head to the G3 male and then dial in some morphs to give the body a similar style.  You might be able to copy over/dial in the Star 2.0 body to a percentage then use some other morphs to balance out the shape as well.  You might need to tweak the rigging of the figure after using the morphs.

If you want to age the figures, you might consider using 3d Universe's Toon Generations for G3 (https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-2-essentials-for-genesis-3 for the base or https://www.daz3d.com/toon-generations-2-mega-bundle-for-genesis-3-female-s-and-male-s for the mega bundle) and mix in those morphs a bit.  They have wider jaws and smaller eyes than Star 2.0 so they might work well to age up Star.

Hmmm wonder if Star 1 is still popular?

I have seen people do things like 50% Star and 50% Victoria 7 (for example) to get a more realistic toon look

I really love STAR in all versions. Lady LittleFox always makes very high quality stuff that, in my opinion, stand the test of time. I bought Star when she first came out and I still use her in my work today.

It's not very difficult adjusting clothes to fit her. In this pic, none of the clothes or hair are made for her.

Absolutely stunning image! That is one of the best image of Star ever. Thanks for sharing it.

Very nice work- Also the mixing of DNA for the newer figures. All great stuff.

This keeps catching my eye, every time I come across it.
