Is this already a thing?  There should be a thread where you grab a promo image from a product or character, that - well, let's say, for whatever reason, reminds you of something or someone, then you post it with your caption hinting at the obvious :)  Anybody wanna play?

I'll start.

Would you put the same subtitle to a guy render with that expression? "One snap with my fingers and I drop my pants so quickly..."

    Just wondering.

Probably not - because I don't know of a famous television comedy where a guy who looked like that had that line of dialog. :)

AbFab possibly hasn't been shown in every country

  • I'm sure it hasn't... Some cultures' or languages' humor doesn't even translate well into other cultures or languages. I'm just saying, that's why I wouldn't apply that caption to a picture of a guy.  But, then... You could imagine a situation where it could work, for sure. :)

I didn't even know that that waas a quote from a show, or that that show existed... I had to google it. I love Joanna Lumley in "Sapphire&Steel", so I noticed the similarity of the face to hers... but AbFab, well, yeah. laugh

John Cleese said that when some US company bought the rights to Fawlty Towers, the first thing they did was to remove Basil from the manuscript. Go figure.

One thing for sure is that you'll have to learn a lot of cultural references and history if you want to understand jokes (or colloquialisms, for the matter) in a different language. In some cases, when you can suddenly string things together, it's, like "Oh, now it mykes sense why that makes them so angry/amused."

HaHa, I think my favorite line from Fawlty Towers was "These eggs taste like you laid them."

Funniest line in the series of Fawlty Towers episodes.  Nearly the last line in the last episode of the series was "Would you care for a rat?" ROFL laugh

<I've removed the links to the YouTube clip to avoid spoilers.  To get the full effect you have to watch the whole episode.  "Basil The Rat" season 2 episode 6>

Thank you. NOW that hairstyle makes sense to me. Although the jacket remains a mystery.
