OTOY asked Jim at AdoredTV to do some research into this subject. He posted this video a couple of months back, but I'm not seeing any shares here via google. This is an interesting subject in and of itself, so I figured it'd be worth the share.
It's interesting to see how far we've come, from a technical perspective. This also might give you a couple of insights into how the new Nvidia RTX technology applies to our current situation with Iray rendering.
For those of us that remember being introduced to computer game graphics via Pong... yeah it's a fascinating subject! I spent many a quarter back in the day, playing games like Missile Command and Battlezone. And being fascinated by movies like The Last Starfighter and Tron. I never played Crysis, but this video brings context to that 'but can it play Crysis' meme we see every so often these days.
Makes me feel a bit old, but it's been an interesting ride so far!
