Surprised I haven't seen a thread on this new release., my appologies if I simply missed it.
I've been thinking about getting into making models, and have become VERY comfortable with modifying and creating shader presets over the last year (primarily iRay) but haven't really tried making my own maps yet other than a few transparency masks using photoshop.
Was wondering what people think about Filter Forge vs something like Substance Designer/Painter and what your experience has been, likes/dislikes etc.
Thanks!

I find FilterForge a valuable partner to Substance Painter; it creates raw textures that can look great when incorporated into SP textures.
And on the flip side, FF can create cool postwork filtering to make cool artwork.
How is FF at making new texture maps from scratch? Based on marketing materials I'd assume SP is the way to go, but if FF can do the same WITH photoshop integration that looks very appealing.
I guess what I'm really asking is, do you need both to make good looking materials for your meshes or can one of them work alone?
If you are trying to texture figures/models to use effectively, I would say SP is more useful. So if you had to pick one... SP. I'd just hate having to pick just one. ;)
