Thanks for the images, I forgot that it might list the separate materials in there. However, I did quickly do a comparison and the .obj is so much easier to work with. The images below show the .obj and the .pz3 version of the same setup. In the .obj things are listed much better, meaning that I can select all of one particular thing -in this case, straps- and edit them all at the same time. The .pz3 has the skirt selected (Hip). In the material preview window it says there are 4 parts to the skirt, which is right. But each part would have to be edited separately as they're not using the same material. Whereas, in the .obj, the parts for the skirt are listed already, and as the belt part of the skirt and the underwear are both leather, I can change them at the same time as the straps, as there is only one diffuse texture map with this outfit.

That's absolutely true..... much easier to edit multiple materials in one go.....:)

I have used Vue since I guess version 4. I have used infinite as well as X stream. Now I only use infinite and follow the maintenance program. Over a year ago I switched from part time Poser to full time DAZ. I integrate all into Vue. I began writing an ongoing tutorial type work on integrating DAZ and Vue. It is on my website of perpetualvisions.com. I export in obj format from daz. It works great in vue. In my tutorial I list most of the settings I use. I have spent a lot of time experimenting with various settings.

As a note. In the new version of vue 2104 infinite, multipass does not work properly when opening the created channels in photoshop. I posted in the maintenance forum and lee Randall replied that they were able to duplicate it and will fix it. This is under windows 7 64-bit.

Hi, I have been using Vue since version 4 with Poser.
Then got v5 infinite free with Light Wave v8.
Currently using v10 complete with PoserPro2014.

At the moment wondering if I should upgrade or not as Daz's Genesis figures & Dson importer (PoserPro) doesn't import correctly to Vue.

Currently preparing for a Screen & Media Diploma and wondering what to keep and what to pitch over the side.

    UGH Thinking bad!

I would not pitch Vue. I can't speak for Poser because I have found DAZ to be, for me, a lot easier to control and I can pose the people in more lifelike positions than Iever could in Poser. But different programs are right for different people.

I'm one of those who has "had" both DS & Vue for a long time, but only just started to sit down and actually try to learn Vue. As such, I have a large collection of DS products - especially Lisa's plants and structures - and am hoping I can find a way to do batch conversions of DS products to Vue vob files. Someone hinted somewhere that it was possible but I have found nothing on that in either forums.
The current one at a time export works - but it can be maddening to have to process each variation of plant one at a time, and the Smart Catalog is really not that helpful in telling me which plant it is, which variation, and what else I need - and it doesn't even seem to keep the name of the product in memory so it can be used as the name of the obj file.
Is there any way to select a group of products, have DS process the product in all available forms, and drop an obj file that can be read in VUE to show all - and save all - with just a few keystrokes?
I know, that would make it far too easy...but I like easy...

No, there is no batch "conversion/export". It would also not be very useful, as you would still have to adjust the materials for each object in Vue because they will not look good by default (at the very least you need to adjust bump and highlight settings).
I am using Vue (currently on Vue 2014 Infinite, I started with Vue 4) and DS or Poser for many years now as my primary work horses. I find it easiest to simply export what I need when I need and then save it to a .vob file from Vue when I am done. That way you slowly built a library of content in Vue format over time without any pain. I have hundreds of characters, buildings, plants, stuff in vue format that I can now reload at any time. That works well for me and doesn't waste any time on converting stuff that I do not need.

I have vue but it is currently not installed but will try to remember to install it today or as soon as I can remember when I am next to my computer.

Yeah, I have pretty much reached that conclusion - to do it as needed - but sometimes a Hail Mary does find some hidden gems...and I can get obsessive at times...

It would be nice if there were some way to view the products in DS on a full screen, with full names. In the Smart Content, the images are small and the names are very cryptic - and often incomplete. In the plants I see several identical images, with slightly different names - the multi-forms of the plant, on which it would be nice to get more info. Being able to select from a full screen would be helpful for people like me who's eyes aren't as good as they were...and I also seem to see duplicates a lot of the time.

There is the DAZ Product Library in my account...but it's just another additional step.

Anyway, thanks for the response - I'll just do what I can as the need arises...
