Installation Problem

Okay, so I'm having some issues installing Daz to my new PC and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I want to install Daz and DIM to my G drive. I have four drives. I have reset the various paths in Daz and DIM to the G drive, however, DIM keeps downloading and installing content to the default C paths. It doesn't seem to matter what I do, the C paths are created and content installed there, which is REALLY annoying. My C drive is a 1 TB drive which is reserved for the operating system and other critical files. the G drive is a 4 TB mechanical drive. Any help on getting DIM to not create the default paths? Seriously, its getting really annoying. I have read the various literature on this - Youtube vids, old forum threads, etc.

Many thanks,

Bob

  • I assume you mean Daz Studio? In DIM, click the gear icon to open settings, go to the Installation tab, and take a screen shot then post it here please.

  • Here 'ya go! Everything is set to the G drive but again, it winds up installing and saving to the C drive. I couldn't figure out the other day why my brand new 1TB C drive was nearly full and I was getting Windows error messages about the drive needing to be cleaned out. Well, now I know!

You have your problem right there: under "Installation" you are telling DIM to install your content to your C drive.

Best plan is to add another install location using the "+" symbol near the bottom, point it to where you really want your content installing, then on that "Current" drop-down list select that new location.

I think that if you are working in offline mode you can actually modify the default location by clicking on the greyed-out "..." in the path list, but I'm not 100% sure of that - you could try it and see.
