Unzipping multiple files

sapatsapat Posts: 1,735

I just finished unzipping almost 4TB of Daz installers from my 'Downloads' folder that was nothing  but freebies and a ton of daz zips. I know nothing about Win 10, let alone the Win Store, but I asked hubby for help and he showed me a free app there called 'Unzip Multiple Files'.  Literally it does just that. It wouldn't take all 4TB at once, but  I took between 20-25 zips at a time from my Downloads folder, into my selected my content folder and bam.  Once it starts, it does show you what file it's on.  At the end, it will give you an error txt file, but almost 99% of them were for duplicates of those .dsx files they put in every zip here, and a few that were duplicate packs I had already installed and didn't remember. No biggie.  But the utility is amazing for ppl like me who are drowning in zip files.

Sorry if y'all are Win10 pros and already know this, but it made my life easier. laugh

You can do the same with WinRAR, not sure what the limit is but I recently batch tested all my Rendo files for corruption, over 7000 in one batch. I haven't tried batch unzipping so many but I guess the limit is the same.

  • I use 7-zip and it does the same - just select a bunch, click 'unzip to' (or 'unzip here') and boom (you do need to wait for the 2nd one to unzip so you can click 'yes to all' for overwriting files - usually the same 2 Daz store files).

surprise didn't know about 7 zip. I have that but rarely use it unless some odd product has file names too long for winzip and it barfs.  But don't have WinRar. Geez, have to try 7 zip and see!

Thanks, sorry for sharing info that you computer genius' already know!!

Izarc also does the multiple file unzips for both zip and rar files.

Just remember, for everyone of us who says "oh yeah, I know that" there will be a half dozen who didn't.
