Installation Problem

Evening!

Well, the Beast arrived last week - 2700X, 2080, 32 GB of ram, and Battlefield V. Yep, life is good!

Anyway, an issue has cropped up as I try to install Daz and my Daz library. Although I have set up install paths to the G drive (there are four ahard drives in the Beast, with one 4 TB drive specific to Daz, Keyshot and other graphics issues), DIM keeps putting stuff onto the C drive, which is quickly filled up. I am clearly missing a beat someplace. C is a 1 TB SSD, which I want to keep for the OS and a few mission critical work programs.  Anyway, how do I set the installation so that everything is downloaded to and then installed to the G drive, completely ignoring the C drive? Daz is currently taking up 1/3 of C's space and there are a lot of downloads left to go.

Many thanks,

Bob

You might want to back up a step. You can change the download destination folder in DIM settings (and the thumbnail archive folder) to whichever drive and path you want. If you don't know how to get there, click the gear icon in the upper right corner. In the popup, select the Downloads tab, and click the ellipsis (...) at the far right of the Package Archive field and navigate to the drive and folder you want to use. You might want to re-start DIM after that to make sure it's set properly.

You don't necessarily have to reinstall everything, you could move it all, but that can be a little tricky if you don't know what you are doing, so, if you haven't done too many installs, you might want to consider starting over.

And, yeah, sounds like a real beast...

That's what I'm doing, thanks. I just uninstalled Daz and Dim, and will redo everything tomorrow. The funny thing is that I clicked on the gear icon and reset things to the G drive and it still saved to the C drive. Perhaps it was the restart thing that you suggested that I should have done.

I've spent this much money on a PC before. Everything before this was more or less budget. This thing, however, can really rock. I"ve gotten over 250 fps on older games, and around 140-150 on new ones.
