Importing files with rigging.

There are lots of models from other sites that I would prefer to use in Daz instead of Maya or Blender that are already rigged. How do you import, or what kind of files can you import, into daz that have the rigging intact?

Almost every 3D program that is capable of doing rigging has its own system for doing so and it is one of the least portable functions between applications. Various "universal" transfer formats have been devised, such as FBX or Collada, but results can be hit or miss. If you have a rigged model that you wish to import, you could try exporting it in FBX format, then importing into DAZ. If that doesn't work, you are pretty much going to need to re-rig the model in DAZ Studio using the native rigging system.

  • DAZ studio is not terribly good at importing such stuff

    the FBX importer is abysmal

going via Poser11Pro is the only way I myself have had some success

and a lot of failures, not so much into Poser but from there into DAZ studio
