Does Omi really require Mei Lin?

It shows Mei Lin as under the requirements line, but not in the title or description. Anyone clarify?

    hi,

    Depends on your definition of 'need'.  Omi can be used fine without Mei Lin 8 installed, but will look different.

    First one is with Mei Lin 8, second is without Mei Lin.
