Transparent background with shadow alpha?

Is it possible to render a character in Daz with transparent background but with shadows? This is probably a noob question since I just installed Daz yesterday cheeky. In 3DS Max it's pretty straightforward, you just need to assign the ground a Shadow/Matt material, the rendering will have transparent background but shadow's alpha will be preserved. When I turned off Draw Ground in Daz, the shadow completely disappeared crying. Is there a way to output shadow alpha in Daz? I'm considering using Daz for photo and rendering integration. Thank you very much in advance.

  • There's a script, in Scripts>Utilities, to apply Iray Advanced properties which will give you Matte options.

  • Thank you Richard. Is it possible to assign a matt material/option to props? If I want to place the model in a chair but want to use the chair only for shadows, can I assign a matt material to the chair so that only the shadow will be rendered? Thanks!

  • Yes, any kind of object can be given the Matte property
