Can this software convert .png, .jpg, .tif images for the skin texture? Or just one of them? Or just converting the morph?

    It doesn't actually convert textures.

It assigns the textures to the new surface names of the Genesis 2 line. For example: Generation 4 and Genesis the face surface is named 1_SkinFace, but for Genesis 2 it is named Face. And also the script copies over the shader and settings from the original material presets.

O.K. I've looked at the vid, and skimmed threw the steps outlined in a few posts pages past. The title of the thread is the number one thing I have not had time to look into yet.

I'm guessing the vid was just a hand full of steps, people were skipping, or Daz Studio dose not give a 'Progress Bar' as the script(?) is doing it's thing.

Given my former life with SystemV and BSD, I am not new to the tedious nature of browsing deep directory trees of bits and peaces spread all over a file system. I agree that is a deterrent for a few that just want to play, not clicking threw folders for what seams like hours on end. lol.

I need a cup of coffee, and look at a few other things before I sit down and try to cobble together what seams like a disjointed guide to using this to convert a V4 texture to G2F, and then use that converted DUF from then on out.

I think the video (from the 5th post) made complete sense on how to use this script.
When I run it Daz Studio kind of freezes and I sit and wait patiently for maybe a minute and presto the textures are all changed.

What exactly are you having trouble understanding about this product? Or is your post just a statement?
    I'm confused :ohh:

The furthest I've done, is pour this into the computer with DIM. I have yet to open Studio this morning, I'm looking at Fault Line maps (Irving Texas), and it is "B.C."

I first need to get coffee into my brain. Then I need to figure out where DIM put the script, and that Natasha skin texture. Then I'll go back and look at the steps outlined, and try to decipher where the clicking is taking place in that vid.

I take it that this product does not work very well? I'm trying to convert a favorite V4 texture to V6...and it's all jacked up on V6. I've got large black areas covering parts of the body and some of the fingers are black. The lips texture is small and sitting on the upper lip of V6. Also the torso appears to be shiny where the arms are dull and slightly different in color. There are black chunks all over the head and limbs.

I suppose you can't use a texture file that has a different color background, like black....because the texture on V6 is showing the merchants copyright message between the butt cheeks.

I think I'm just going to give up trying to convert V4 textures to V6....it is a shame because I have some nice ones for V4 that I would really like to see how they render out on V6 shapes.

    Bummer.

Do you have "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female", and did you switch the UV set to V4?

I had posted on another thread about this product and my question was if I restricted to only using the G2F V4 or could the textures be applied to any of the other character morphs and I was told I could use it on any of the models.

There was no how-to use in the product so I was clueless on how it worked. I did a google search and found a DAZ forum posting that a user had posted, explaining how this product worked and I followed that method and got the following results.

So, do I take G2F...apply the V4 traits and then use the product? But how will it work on figures like Lilith or Olympia? I was told that the converted textures would work on those figures.

This product just takes the texture over to Studio correct? So if the texture has any SSS features to it that were Poser related I will have to figure out a way to come up with something similar for Studio?

I'm new to Studio so please excuse my ignorance regarding the program :) I tend to jump into the deep end of things and work my way around as I go. I rendered things in Poser that came out a certain way, and I'm wanting to bring those textures over to Studio on G2F and see if I can get the same results with Studio lights, etc.

Hope that makes some sense :) Thanks for your patience!

G2F can use different UV sets, and the UV set doesn't have to match the shape used. So you could use the Lilith shape along with a V4 skin texture.

Any adjustments to settings from what worked in Poser to work in DAZ Studio will have to be made by the user.

  • I purchased this and will return it, no documentation and the video is very out dated, form what i can tell it dose not do what the promo sugested ti dose. Be eiser to do it manualy.

To be honest Zen, I had tried all of the tutorials going back over a year ago, and none of them worked for me. This script was the only thing that did work. So I can understand in a way that no single method will work for everyone, this one did for me.

This script is not a standalone solution, it dose require the V4 UV thing for G2F. Also If your trying to use this to move skin mats to G3F/V7, that will never work as UV is not UDIM. Also, this is a script to convert skin mats, not complete figures mats shape and all.

I don't know what vid you refer to, tho Daz Studio dose have a few different 'Skins' for the interface, and that may make it look 'Outdated' to some. I can assure you that this script dose work in Daz Studio 4.7, and the Mat files the script created in a different folder still work in Studio 4.8 perfectly fine.

Case and point, this is the "V4 EliteTexture: Natasha" mats on G2F, converted with this script.

    V4 mat converted to G2F

    V4 noGlamorMat on G3F
