Is there an easy way to transfer smart props to a new figure?
I could have sworrn I saw a script or something to do this but I'm drawing a blank now and wondering if it was a tutorial... It seems it ought to be easy with G3-G8, but I have a ton of older smart props that I've been wanting to transfer to the newer figures.

I'm still hoping. I've tried a couple of things, but they're not working for me. Keeping an eye on the thread in hopes.
Can't you just use them normally and MOVE the object into the exact place you want it?
It should then be parented fine for all future movement of the figure.
Worst case use ANY prop, move the handle to palm, select hand and in pose controls choose grasp dial. parent item to hand. Done!
Is there an easy way...? I would say 'easy' it is not, possible? shure.
I thought about this and had a vague idea of applying a Corrention Pose so the new figure represents the default pose of the older figure the smart prop is originaly made for. Ofcourse you need to unparent the smart prop first, and after appying the corrention pose parent it back to the hand. Smart props for Poser are meant to automaticly snap to one hand with an option dialog poping up to choose in which hand left - right?
There is a freebie at ShareCG for pose conversions Updated: Daz Studio Posing Scripts (now for G3F)
Those Presets starting with "Fix Pose..." are adding the right offset to the current pose to compensate the difference in the various figure default poses like T pose A pose or what ever.
Once the figure 'grabs' the smart prop you can save a wearable preset with the figure selected. Then select what parented items on the figure to include in the wearable preset (can be a conforming item or a parented prop) and you can even include the hand pose in the wearable preset. The Wearable Preset comes close to the idea of a smart prop unfortunatly it seems like there is no selection dialog on which hand left-right to snap to, if you want this option you need to create presets for both sides.
Other freebies and scripts at ShareCG, don't know if they are of any use:

The problem is that a smart prop doesn't work from a specific pose, although they're frequently combined with one that grasps a hand or other body part in a specific position. Rather, they're linked to a single bone rather than the position of the overall figure. As Jazzy suggests, I can redo an individual smart prop by loading both figures at the same time in the T or A poses, parenting a null to the object, unparenting the smartprop from the bone in the original figure, using the null to move the prop to a similar position on the new figure, and then re-parenting it to the same (or a similar) bone on the new base. That's what I've been doing., but that's a really convoluted and time consuming process. (It seems like there should be an easier way, especially with figures that ahare similar bone structure..
I've done a few times, where I put G8 in the G3 pose, then loaded a gun say, which props to G3....moved it till it's in G8 hand, and then parented it to her. But when I pose G8 the gun goes flying off to the side and half the time, is way out of position. Now, I was thinking I had parented it to the wrong place.....I parent it to her "hand" but I'm unsure if that's what it was parented to on G3 (as opposed to say, her index finger). So I haven't had much success in getting it in the right place.
I was actually suggesting to load the item as a Prop and NOT a Parented prop this saves a bunch of steps!
1. I bring in my figure and set the hand pose to Grasp... looser for a gun or oddly shaped object and tighter for a stick-type handle.
2. Load prop and use Perspective camera to place in the "grasping hand"
3. parent the prop to the hand.
At this point applying other poses with or without locking the hand has a small or big adjustment to the hand.
4. Fine tune any finger bends for proper grip and trigger or button positions.
This works for guns, phones, weapons, wands, most anything!
