I remember watching an interview with him years ago. what i remember about him the most was his passion for comics, the story and artwork.

He will be greatly missed though his legacy lives on in many of us.

R.I.P. Stan.  Thank you so much for all the years of creativity and making Marvel great.  I loved your cameo's in the movies too!  95 was a very good run though!

I've never been a huge fan of comics, but I am a huge fan of Stan Lee.

It's a day I've been dreading for years.  He will be missed more than I can find the words to say.

  • Another celebrity whose passing made me tear up. RIP

I just found out.  Tears.  The holder of the stories of modern gods.

  • A true creative giant  with a great legacy of iconic characters and franchises.  A life well lived.  He will be remembered fondly.  Marvel.  Cameos.  The Big Bang episodes.

He influenced hundreds of thousands of people for the better, helped thousands of people find their callings, and gave entire generations good role models and idols to live up to.  There are very few artistically oriented people around that were not in some way influenced by Stan.  And he had the opportunity to know how big an impact he had on society.  Should we all be so lucky.  He will be greatly missed, but a small piece of him will always be around, in all of us.

Within the SuperHero thread I suggested someone might try to render his likeness given Stan Lee is no longer with us.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    ...wow, sad.

I met him a couple times in 1978 when I accompanied friend of mine who went to New York to break into the comics industry.

So sad. I met him briefly on several occasions at cons and parties, he was always so full of life and energy despite his age..  I bet he had a great life. But I read his wife of 36 years passed last year, and so often those who have been married for a long time pass within a year of their partner. RIP Stan Lee. Somewhere I have a photo I took at a party of Stan Lee with Quentin Tarantino posing together. I will have to dig that up! Sad day to top off the last few horrible days of mass shootings and devasting fires here in CA...  I wish his superheroes really existed and could save our messed up world....

It made me so sad to read that he has passed.  He created beautiful worlds and characters to uplift and inspire us.  I think I will cry when I see the first Marvel movie without his cameo appearance :(

    what a good dig yes

  • Just heard the news on TV. I knew this day was coming, but still hoped he would keep being with us. So sad about this.

Stan and Jack Kirby were true pioneers in the comic industry and the characters they created were as iconic as their creators.

And I loved those fleeting spots where he showed up in the MCU.

    Excelsior, Stan!

Actually, they were married for 69 years. The judge who granted her divorce from her first husband would be the one who married her to Stan...one hour later.

    RIP Stan Lee

  • I wrote a letter to Marvel Comics in 1977, I was 10 at the time. It was very sincere and exactly the sort of thing a 10 year would write. Stan took the time to reply. It wasn't a form letter but a personal response covering what i asked about it. It is possible some assistant wrote the reply and he simply signed it. I'll never know But I've always treasured it.

He and King Kirby invented so many of the characters that have influenced so much of my imagination over the years. The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor and, always and forever, Spider Man.

RIP Stan. The world will be a little darker without you.

To quote Stan Lee: "I guess one person can make a difference … 'nuff said.”
