Question about DraagonStorm and Zev0's pose converters

I'm currently converting all my v4/m4 poses I can find to G2 (so I can then convert to G3/G8) and so far it's been doing a pretty good job. But it isn't converting any of the poses like in the M4 comic pose packs that are in the DSB file format. None of the 4: comic pose pack 1-3 and M4 comic combat, would convert :( It looked like the pose converter couldn't find any poses or something. Should it find these files, is my only option to go through each of these packs and poses 1 at a time and resave them manually?

A lot of M4/V4 pose packs have both DS and Poser formats available. When M4/V4 were the main figures of choice, Poser was still king, so very few pose packs would not include the pz2 format needed by Poser. If you locate these then they can be converted.

Having said all this, I do find it odd that a DS product supports Poser formats but not DS ones, probably because they are pre-duf and not many people used them.

Thanks, I'll have to see if I can find them. I just been finding the poses in my product list, selecting a pose from the set, then right click and browse to file. Then I copy that folder and paste it into the v4 to G2 pose converter so it converts all the poses in that folder.

I'll definately look around for the pz2 formats for those and try them.

    *edit*

well now I feel silly. there are 2 entries per pose. Of course I did the browse to file on the first one and didn't check the 2nd one. Which happened to be the poser format

It is tedious but poser formatted poses can be opened, applied to m4 saved and then converted after.

The .dsb file type is the old "binary encoded" format. It's supposed to be backwards compatible so that later D|S versions could run scripts created by earlier D|S versions. Apparently, though, recent D|S versions (maybe something like 4.9 or 4.10) broke this compatibility, so they sometimes glitch a bit.

(Note that this isn't actually encryption, that's the .dse file type. The difference is that .dsb files can be opened as plaintext by the Script IDE tool, while .dse encryption is a one-way process — the script will run, but you can't get the plaintext back out.)

I think I got all my v4/m4 poses converted to G2 now :)

and I'm moving up the chain. Now I'm converting all my G2 poses to G3 and correct me if I'm wrong, but G1 and G2 have the same bone structure so natively the poses should be interchangable

Yet when I select the poses out of Andromedas Legends for G1, G2 to G3 pose converter doesn't recognise them.

The v4 to G2 pose converter won't recognise them either. So the only option I have is to load each pose from G1 onto G2 and save out a new pose preset, then run it throught the G2 to G3 converter.

So why doesn't the converter recognise G1 poses?

I think it is because poses for G1 and G2 are very similar, and those for one can be used for the other, although there will be some inconsistences, particularly with hands. I use the G2 to G3 converter to convert G1 poses.

That's what my plan was (since there is no specific G1 to anything pose converter (trying to use all the same product since I spent a lot of time using v4 to G2 converter, then the free converter on sharecg to get to G8. Only to have all the finished poses just come out with posed legs (using the wrong -/+ in the bones and T-pose upper body)

But like with the Andromedas Lengend set some G1 poses aren't detected at all by the pose converter when I try to load that folder.
