How to use cr2 hairs

I purchased a hair in cr2 form (Ali hair 162 from rendo) but don't know the best way to use it. With my character in viewport, I could not figure out how to bring the hair into the scene. Also, it was really hard finding the hair in the runtime. File, import, didn't work.
I eventually found the hair using windows explorer, and then had it open the hair using daz program (it asked what program to use). Then I saved it as a scene subset. Then I went back to my character scene and merged the hair scene subset, then fitted the hair (autofit).
I'm pretty sure I'm doing this wrong. Could someone clarify:
1 - how/where you usually find your cr2 files?
2 - do you get to them through explorer or Daz?
3.- how would you bring them into your scene to use?
4. - if I need to use related materials (hair colors etc), do I do that with windows explorer or what is the best way.

Not sure what you mean by how do you use it, do you mean how do you install it and/or find it? Chances are it's in poser format as far as paths go, so you should probably setup a poser file directory for all poser files and then point DS to it. That is what I do since I have several poser runtimes from when i used poser. it should then show up in DS like any other file.
I don't usually buy poser only products so I usually only install the daz version. I used content package install to install the hair to my "Rendo" directory. For example, I easily find characters from rendo in that directory, click on them, and they are loaded. I could not find the hair in that same "rendo" directory. I got to it with windows explorer. When i had my daz scene open, I thought what I needed to do was go to file, import, then grab the hair. That didn't work. Instead, using file explorer, I navigated to the hair, clicked on it, and when asked what app to use to open it, I selected Daz. Then the hair alone loaded in a new instance/new daz window. I saved it as a scene subset, went back to my character/scene, and merged the hair subset into my scene to get the hair on the character.
Sorry if I'm not explaining this well.
Just extract the zip into your runtime as usual. You can find the hair under Poser Formats in DS, see screenshot. Just select the character and doubleclick the icon, as with any other hair. Textures are in the Pose > Ali folder.
I hadn't even noticed a poser formats directory. Since I downloaded to my rendo directory which does not appear to have a poser formats area, I will re-download to my daz directory which does have one. That sounds like the solution I'm looking for. I'm heading out and can't test this at the moment, but will report back when I get a chance to try your suggestions. Thank you for your help.
Since I usually install everything to the same directory, I usually set up my Daz Library in DS as my DS content library AND my Poser Content directory :). Works well.

Thanks everyone, installing to the poser formats directory worked. There's a bunch of other content in there I didn't even know was there.
You have to:
1) The hair cr2 should be at something similar to my DAZ Studio Content Library Path + the location of all your Poser Runtime Content Library. If you copy your poser runtime to be in the same location as your DAZ Content Library then the Poser part iof that s basically <My DAZ Studio Content Library Path>/runtime So im my case it's D:\Documents\Design\DAZ 3D\Studio\Library\Runtime\ and the location that hair CR2 in Poser format is at is \library\props\<PA that made your hair>\<name of hair product>\HairProduct.cr2 generally speaking if that PA has followed usual convention so in my case it would be D:\Documents\Design\DAZ 3D\Studio\Library\Runtime\ \library\props\<PA that made your hair>\<name of hair product>\HairProduct.cr2
2) doubleclick on the CR2 preset ICON and now manually position and size the hair to be on the model's head. Hopefully the cranium shapes aren't too radically different but they might be rendering the hair useless from certain render angles.
3) Once satisfied with the hair scale & positioning from all angles, parent the hair to the head bone in the character rigging.
4) This part I've only done maybe one or twice so it's probably better to look at one of SickleYield's tutorials on DeviantArt but you want to remove the old rigging from the HairProdut.cr2 and transfer a new rigging from the HairProduct.cr2 from the character you've parented the hair too. You'll want to try and use autofit and possible dFormers to get the hair to fit the character better. Then you'll want to save all your work on the hair as a new hair prop/morph asset to essentially create a new DAZ prodiuct of your now adjusted HairProduct.cr2 (or just save the scene but you'll also likely want to use hair in other scenes on other models).
