UV map G3 vs. G8 and other differences

I'm rookie on this difference between the 2 generations. 
Overall, what are the differences .. in the mesh, eyes, UV maps, etc ... and whatever else is different.

  • The G3 and G8 base UVs are the same.

    I believe the skin UV is the same for G3 and G8, but not the eyes UV. Or maybe the eyes UV is the same but not the eyes mesh?????

    then skins for base G3 should fit G8 base?

    Yes, skins for G3 work on G8.

  • They eyes are the same mapping as well, but if your materials use a transmap on the iris or sclera, that will need to be removed because the mesh changes.

  • I believe that 8 has more bones in the face for expression. I wish they would stop adding bones to the face and fix the unnatural hip area everytime there is any bend in the hip area it looks as horrible as in v4.

    i was trying skins and found the eyes to be very noisy. not the iris but the cornea/sclera. all dots. is this why? but it was doing it with G8 eye textures as well, not just G3 on G8 ..
