Little confunsed about the Eyeball UV's

OK, so I'm trying to get my eye textures set up for Gino.  I was UNDER THE IMPRESSION that the UV's were the Iris filled the entire lower UV but after investigating (after a couple of test renders showing a white bit around where the Iris end and the Sclera begins) I needed to check it out. So I went into the DAZ folder and pulled out an eye texture from the Darius texture folder and found that these texture maps are two in from the way the UV's are laid out, also there is a big round hole before the pupil black is reached in the center.  Makes no sense to me.  See the screen grab below.  No texture can be lifted from this screen grab as it's got the UV overlaid over the top of it, so no worries I just need some edujumication around this area....

Grassyass!

The blank part is the part that wraps around the eyeball and tucks in so it isn't seen (?????)

If you want to get in on where the two black dots are for, try opening the eyes in a 3D modeler and open up the UV map. Select the black spots and you should be able to see what is being highlighted on the model itself.

So that blank ring around the pupil doesn't need to be filled then?  And then that bit of UV map around the outside of the Iris??  Seems odd to me that having two whole rows of UV map that is clearly laid out isn't filled... why then is it even laid out?  Yea, seems strange to me.

The strange thing about the two dark dots, which is how you see them represented here but in a the full Darius eye maps are actually reduced versions of the Iris/Pupils are not represented on the UV Map so not sure why the artist included those and did this for ALL the maps, including the internal ones like Bump and Normal..... I don't think there is anyway to actually select those but not sure why they are even on the final maps for the eyes... I do see them on the eye maps for Floyd and Alexandra and most of the other DAZ in house characters but again, these little bits at the top center of the eye maps are NOT on the official UV's that I can see.

There should have been a question mark after my comment because it sounded good this morning, but it was a sort of speculation more than anything. Sorry about that. Ram, where did you get your template? I just made one this minute off of Genesis 8 male and it looks like this. The little toungue like things on the top of the sclera are the eye socket, and I should have taken them off the map, but oh well.

The little tiny dots are the back of the sclera, which would not be seen unless you turned off the models head.

Ah, I see now.  YUP, you are correct.  The templates I've been looking at are for Genesis 3 Male, not Genesis 8 Male, those little guys are indeed on that set of UV's.  Also found my Iris textures all reflect those older UV's as well.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.. that's what I get for not paying attention to the folder names..... Oh well.  Off to fix all that!  Thanks again!
