I thought the winner would be whoever got the last post on the old thread. Oh well, shows how much I know. I guess I am relatively new here.

Anyway, here's my complaint: I got my 32Gb micro SD card in from Amazon today and by the time I got it home I'd almost lost it. Even though it was still in it's packaging, it slipped under the cardboard fold in the box and I didn't see it. It was only about 9 bucks, but just the fact that it was so small it got lost in the packaging frustrates me. This never would have happened in the old days. I don't recall anyone ever losing 32Gb worth of floppy disks. Manufacturers need to fix this. Make stuff big so we can find it.cheeky

Yes, we should definitely go back to the "old days" - I'm sure everyone misses brick-sized cell phones and computers almost as big as the people using them. /s  wink

I'll take tiny tech over that any day. lol

..t.hank you.  Cooking runs in the family bloodline I guess.

Also back in the early 70s we had several girls in my HS who were taking shop classes, so I crossed over and took Home Ec. Definitely a good choice in the long run.

Going to make a batch of my special ceredo burrito filling, and on Sunday, a big pot of Thai curry each that will last several days. Being retired I have the time to really get into cooking.  Many people ask me why I don't do this for a living. Well for one not sure I can cook for hundreds of people, second I cant' stay on my feet all day, and third, cooks as well as even chefs get paid poorly for the long hours and work they do (plus the it would become just a "job" which is the last thing I'd want to deal with when I got home).

This dinner cost me all of about 5$ to make (sans the glass of wine).  In a restaurant here it would easily cost a minimum of around 18 - 20$ before tip (also not counting the wine which would be another 8 - 10$ a glass).  That would buy almost a weeks worth of food I can cook myself.  I rarely dine out these days unless someone takes me out to dinner or I am travelling.

Thankfully I have a very powerful vent above the stove to take out all the smoke.  At the old place making blackened catfish would smoke up the entire apartment as I only had on small window and no vent over the stove (I always took the smoke alarm down and removed the battery beforehand).

NICE! The Thai Curry and burrito filling sound awesome! :D

I can cook a few things but my husband is a much better cook. He's been a bit too tired to cook lately though since we're in the middle of moving plus working full time - make it hard to have the energy to cook. I'm looking forward to us finally getting into the new place, that way we can stop spending our evenings packing and hauling loads of boxes and get back to having yummy dinners again. lol :)

RitaCeleste please don't stop posting.  We'd miss you.  We need posts to keep this a lively thread.  I was so pleased when I saw you start popping in here adding fresh thoughts and different takes on life. yes Sometimes it gets rather monotonous in here without lots of different voices. sad  Post removals are a fact of life, whether we think they are deserved or not.  Just rub the sore spot a moment and it soon fades away.

??  last month's ambulance ride was after a fast for bloodwork..

last week's was 2 days after a no food and water fast for ultrasound.

may be a lesson to be learned here.

DAZ did the same thing last year. They had an "End of Month" mega catchup at the end of September and then had the Final Catchup two weeks later. So, since it didn't say it was the final catcup I figured the PA sale would continue and the PC+ sale be delayed.

..bugger.  The PC Anniversary is about the only sale I can afford these days.  I made a total of two purchased during the PA sale and one of them didn't even involve a PA store that was on discount (was a DO to use my PC+ DO coupon).

Well, I suspect it will only a little over a week now to wait. And they usually give away a bunch of free stuff to kick it off.

I ordered a small chicken teriyaki with fries, but got a small chicken teriyaki on fries.  Not a big deal though. I did get a tad bit too much ranch. I also got this for free.

complaint, a mosquito just tried to get a free meal, but I said no by trying to swat the bug.  Free meal as in my blood.

it is 4pm now and my ride home comes in 15 minutes or so.

Non-complaint:  Two days of rain and mud are over.  Yay! yes  I attended a household sale just a couple miles from me and saved $150 by not buying a wonderful Yamaha 88-key electronic piano. yes  I wanted it.  I desperately wanted it and could have justified the expense.  But I finally talked myself out of it because A) It's been 10 years since I've touched a piano.  B) I can't sit upright long enough to practice properly anymore.  C)  I have no room for it.  D) My piano talent peaked a long time ago and I have a few recordings (somewhere) to prove it.  E) I already have several projects that I intend to finish before I shuffle off this mortal coil, and none of them are proceeding on schedule as is. frown HOWEVER, I did go back today, the last day of the sale, to see if it was still unsold and would have offered $100 for it.  Thankfully it was gone.  I hope it went to a good home. indecision

  • 'Nother Non-complaint:  I've signed up for a 30-day trial of Amazon primeVideo to use with my new Amazon FireTVstick to give me another source option other than NetFlix and YouTube that seem to be running out of material I find worthy of watching.  Tonight I'm watching the Amazon production of "King Lear" and for the first time I actually understand what's going on.  So I'll continue to milk this free 30-day trial of Amazon primeVideo for all I can get over the next 4 weeks, and see if it's worth $8.99/month beginning Nov. 5th.

I got my HP back today.  Finally got some time to get back onto it.  The difference between the Lenovo and the HP is so obvious.  To show how old the Lenovo is there is a Vista sticker on it.  I am not sure when Vista was around in otherwords before 7 came out.  This HP computer was gotten this year so it has 10 on it.

The phantom clicking is gone from what I can tell.  The computer is running warm but not hot.  It is warm because I am trying to figure out what I am doing in a 3D online game.

Stgarting DIM back up to make sure Daz is up to date before trying to see if that works well still.

If you shop at all on Amazon you might consider full Prime membership which includes free shipping and prime discounts on a lot of items . It is only $4/month more than just prime video.; or an annual full Prime membership is $119. We buy quite a lot of stuff on Amazon so it is definitely worth it for us.

I need to go charge up my computer soon.  Apparently playing a 3D online game causes the battery to go down faster.

There's a special form for you to sign for them to ask the IRS for your data, and what year/years must be specified.  And it can take a while.  Bringing the W2 to them is much quicker.  That's probably from you taxes from last year that they want.  There is always a printed copy of those, I think it's the law.  You should have it with your tax records.

Yeah, I considered that but did some calculating and made a judgement call to just get the primeVideo.  I rarely buy things from Amazon that are not eligible for free shipping if I order more than $25.  So I juggle things in my wish list until I get things that total more than $25.  Also, it forces me to slow down the rate at which I order things and it makes a game of it to see how little over $25 I can get away with.  devil

I've now had a chance to go through a lot of the primeVideo catalog and I have selected enough to fill 30-days.  But not much more.  So, I may end up not paying anything. yes One thing about being old and having watched a LOT of movies and TV in the last 65 years is that there is really not much that I find worth watching anymore. indecision  Color me jaded.

Well, it's true that there are only a small set of stories.  They're just told in different time periods, different cultures, different styles.  And there sure isn't a dearth of remakes lately!  But it's how well the story is told that makes it worth watching again or not.
