Lately, I have had a couple of products that will not install. I use DIM. They are listed in what needs to be downloaded. They are downloaded and installed ... supposedly.
When I go to use them, they are NOT in the smart content. They are NOT in the content directory. If I use Windows explorer and go to where they should be in the file directory, there are no files there.
I tried to install manually..still does not work. Not sure where they're going, but I cannot find them...
i need to start checking every install from now on...i buy stuff, and maybe dont use it right away, so dont know half the time if it actually got installed or not.

The first thing I would check is if Windows is not blocking you from accessing your DAZ directory. Microsoft locked down certain folders after a notorious ransomware hit PCs. I'm surprised this is happening to you just now.
Have you looked inside the manual download .zip files to see what the file/folder arrangement is supposed to be?
one of them came down as .exe files ... it was a bundle of 3 products. 3 exe files. they didnt work at all. I eneded up returning the product.
I have not been able to find the downloaded file of the other, but I looked in the readme and it is not where it is specified.
Did you try right-clicking on the product in DIM (if it's a zip) to "Show Package Files" or "Show Installed Files"? That tells you what you've got and what went where. If the popup window is blank, it either didn't download or install properly. Reinstall or re-download and try again. I sometimes get corrupted headers on zip files, which show a blank package list, and they will fail to install but will show that on the status button. If nothing is installed, the installed files list will be blank or the entries will be plain text, not hyperlinks. For example, the recent Fluidos update "installed" with no warning messages, but actually uninstalled without putting in the new stuff. I had to start over, even the C++ runtime (had to reboot because of that, too).
there is nothing in DIM at all .. Not sure how you reset it ... I did a DIM refresh but it show nothing to be dowloaded.

To re-download it, you have to delete the file from the download folder (as specified in DIM setup). Refresh or download manually from your product library at Daz and move/copy the file to the download folder. Refresh or restart Install Manager and it should show up somewhere (one of the three tabs). FIlter by product SKU or Order Number, whatever is easiest.
its not in the download folder at all . I have reloaded and refreshed DIM a couple of times. Just dowloaded manually and will try that.
well, manually downloaded and installed... its working now
Okay. Just one more question: installed with DIM or manually copied from the archive? Studio will find it if it is in a mapped folder, but DIM makes a manifest that keeps track of what is installed if you need to update or uninstall. Just curious as to why it didn't show up anywhere in DIM.
not sure about DSIM..i downloaded manually, unzipped, and copied to folder. there is nothing in DIM.
I've had several products that would not install with DIM at all... newer ones ... my install folder is what it is ... its really strange. i have a support ticket in to DAZ support ... the other one was cancelled when "I got impatient and requested a refund. I need to go through my purchases and verify everything is account for in DIM and installed in DS
Something is definitely messed up with your DIM setup/database/folders. I have never had a product that could not be installed via DIM, and I have a lot of stuff. Uninstall, re-install usually works. Uninstall, delete, (refresh, download, refresh again) or (manual download and copy, refresh), re-install for stubborn ones. Still, I can count on one hand how many times I've had to do that.
yes ... not sure where to start. if i uninstall it, will it be able to know what is already installed? hopefully support will be able to help. we shall see.
When Install Manager starts up, it scans all the manifest files in the manifest folder (C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles by default) to see what's installed, your download folder to see what's available to be installed, and checks with your account to see what's available to download. (Maybe not in that specific order). I have mapped the library as a shared network drive, and copied the manifest folder to another computer and DIM correctly saw everything as installed and Studio worked properly (I made sure that the drive letter for the mapped network drive was the same as the local library so that I did not have to modify the manifest files). Uninstalling the Install Manager itself shouldn't delete the manifests, but copy them just in case the uninstallation process deletes the whole folder. Usually, an uninstall process does not delete anything that wasn't in the installation package, leaving any user data intact, but you never know for sure. If it does, just copy them back to the original location after re-installing Install Manager. Cross your fingers and start it up...
