keyframing master objects

Hi

I am trying to keyframe the depth of a text object.
I can keyframe the text master object (size, depth, etc.), but it's as if nothing happens to my instance of the master object. What might I be doing wrong?

Not quite clear on this question, but my guess is this.
If you have grouped objects you can not use the TOP level of the group to scale in a single direction.
If you have 5 items grouped you cannot scale a single axis on all 5 using the top level of the group.
In the motion tab you CAN scale in all directions. ie make the object half it's size by scaling down x y and z 50%
If you wanted to scale just the depth ( y axis) on all 5 objects, you would have to select all 5 instances and NOT the one with the
group name and you could drag the scale control on all 5 effecting only the y axis.
So you can do it, just not from the " Master"
