Highlight it in the scene pane, click the name and it should change to edit mode and you can name it to what you want. I can't remember if right clicking in the name brings up a menu with edit on it as I can't look ATM.
THANK YOU!!!!....you have no idea how this helps, simple solution ,very complicated problem.
Now have to rename 25 items.......
This is probably all that you want, but note that it is changing the Label (the thing that displays in the Scene pane and other node lists) rather than the Name.
If you do want to change the Name of a top-level item (a figure or prop) you can use Edit>Object>Scene Identification or Edit>Figure>Scene Identification. If you want to change node names on bones you can use the right-click>Edit>Ranme Node... from the Joint Editor tool. Changing names can (probably will) break some things, especially presets, so this is more for completelness than offering soemthing you will want to use often.
To elaborate.
Acquired a Simple robot in the DaVinci Pose.....not rigged.
Wanted to do simple poses. Cannot rig.
So
Created a scene in Daz, Inserted Poser 4 Business Man lo-rez
In Zbrush imported robot. Broke down to polygroups.
Exported each piece to Daz (GOZ).
Took each piece scaled, translated and rotated, dupicated to fit Business Man, parented it., hide the business man part.
Problem was that each piece kept the same name as the daz figure
Took over two hours, worked great,
Exported completed robot to Key shot for rendering.
Alternative was to export completed figure to zbrush and then KeyShot.
Thanks to new Gitzmo in Zbrush, postioning and posing went well.
Daz contribution was the rigged figure!
