Hello everyone. I recently posted a picture under the PC forum showing how one of my efforts had 'grayed' in some places (see att) Although people kindly offered help I was unable to resolve the issue probably due to inexperience. I decided to delete DAZ altogether and try again which I did. The new picture of a soldier peeling potatoes was fine but I was unable to finish it so saved it to file for later, I introduced the bucket into the illustration to be used and re-located when I re-started the pic. Today I have re-loaded the pic to continue working but this is what I have received on the screen, please see the two pics entitled 'transparent' I really need guidance here guys, I don't have a scoobie where to go from here. All suggestions gratefully received.
Thank you.

is that the viewport image only?
many things with transmaps even if just mostly white with just tiny bits black for opacity like edgings, do that for me with openGL but render fine
if it is a render I have no idea
the first one looks like proceedural shaders for the wrong render engine or again openGL
Hi th3Digit. Thanks for your comments. The 'greyed' pic was a render from a perfectly good pic prior to rendering in 3dl. The other two pics are the result of saving unfinished work. The work was fine when I saved it (not renders) but when I re-loaded the work to continue with it this is what I got on the screen. I always use 3dl because I do not think I yet have the skill to progress onto Iray.
I take it you're called Wendy and you are a cat fan? I have three (two rescued kittens)
yes, have two fur babies,
my forum username used to be wendyluvscatz or later wendy
catz
changed it a few times
it is my most common username on many other forums, apps and sites
We live in rural France. I was working outside some 4/5 weeks ago when I could hear a kitten, well, almost screaming, I thought the sound was coming from a deep overgrown bank about two fields away. Eventually it bothered me so much I had to investigate. My wife and I found a tiny, dirty scrap of fur and it took two hours to catch it coupled with scratches and stings from the undergrowth. It's eyes were almost closed with matter, it had fleas and ticks and worms and we reckoned about 5 weeks old. The following day the same thing happened. We now have Bramble and Paws, beautiful healthy young cats who've been wormed, flea'd, ticked, poked, proded and scrutinised by the vet. They are constantly into everything, always hungry, always playing and fighting and are totally imprinted onto my wife and are absolutely delightful. Our older cat is not at all impressed. I hope Richard doesn't disallow this post as being irrelevent and non-DAZ.
So, if I am half-way through an illustration and wish to save it to be finished later, how do I do that, how should the work be saved for completion and rendering later?
Here we go again, I really cannot sort this out, please help.
most things save with the default save scene option, including render settings. But also characters, wearables and props.
looks like uv mapping going wrong. Have you edited anything in the surfaces tab?
Try reloading from stock character.
And congrats on your new baby kittens. Cats are lovely companions! Glad you saved them.
PS small tip :It might help if you title your thread more specific, like “transparant character problem” or “character problem”
Hi Paintbox. Thank you for your message and also for the kind words, there are so many cat lovers out there.
Thank you for your tech suggestions too, I will go to the user manual and see what else I can learn about Surfaces and UV Mapping etc.
Have a nice day.
