Please don't start a second thread on an existing topic - as the replies to the later post show, it just makes people waste their tem going over ground that has already been covered. You can edit the first post to move the thread, but bear in mind that we don't allow bumping so moving to the Commons would not be a good way to get it noticed.

I purposely put the new thread in the Commons as I was getting more views and more responces.  So please move it to the Commons Richard!  Thanks

    Thanks.  Nice tip!  :-)

So I think I'm narrowing this down a bit.  After trying once again to reinstall the Genesis 8 Male Essentials I was having an issue with loading directly from DAZ Studio (don't know what that's about all of a sudden, feels like Mercury retrograde with all these weird bumps in the road I've been having lately)  BUT if I drag and drop the base male figure into DAZ Studio Pro stable release I don't get the pop up (this is testing with the fake file removed) but if I drag and drop it into the DS Beta I get the pop up.  So there MUST be some file that may have recorded something that the beta is looking for upon loading up the fresh copy of G8M.  I may be grasping at straws but this weird error message that the files can't be found when trying to load directly from DAZ Studio (beta or stable) is just weird.

Could loading and then saving G8M as a figure asset work? So overwriting the base with a new one. You might overwrite the error.

Do the content directories match between the two versions of DS - including the order in which they are listed. It sounds to me as if they may not, and one version (the beta) is finding a version of a key file that is still pointing to the removed item first, and stopping, while the other (release) is finding the clean new file first, and stopping.

OK, I always have my epiphany when I'm waking from sleep.  I got up, booted up the computer and uninstalled ALL of the Genesis 8 Essential packs, both DS's (beta and general), all of the plugins via DIM, even went into the registry and deleted all of the entries there.  Rebooted the computer and then reinstalled everything, rebooted and set up DAZ Studio General release leaving out the Beta (which I hope become final sooner than later as there are some great improvements), loaded up my User styles to get it looking the way I prefer.

I then got the D drives content (my work Beta My Library and then the general My Library loaded in via the Content Directory Manager and then tried double clicking on the G8M icon but I'm STILL getting the load error but other generations load fine!  WEIRD.  See the message below....

I'm also still getting the error message for the supposedly missing genesis8male.dsf file.

I then decided to unload the D drive My Libraries and loaded up the BU drives Beta and General My Libraries and I'm no longer getting the pop up message for the genesis8male.dsf.  So that's good.  I guess I can just reload all my files one by one from the D drive and see which one is causing that error.

Richard where do I look for the unmatched content directories files and how do I get them synced up properly so they match so I'm not getting that load error when double clicking on the G8M or G8F Base Figures files?

OK while I wait for info from Richard H I'll inform those that have been trying to help me with the original issue that I deleted just the Beta D drive My Library and replaced it with my BU from the G drive.  All is well again.  I feel such a relief from not having that annoying issue popping up.  Mind you this weekend I'll spend time re-importing and configuring my BioAccessories for Gino/G8M but it will be worth it and will NOT make the mistakes I made that created this maddness in the first place!  Goddess willing!  LOL

  • You need to compare the lists in Content Diectory Manager (for daz Studio Formats) in the two versions, available from the Content tab of Edit>Preferences.

OK, got the Content Directory Manager up.  Not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for or looking at.  When I do what do I do to change it so it's matched or synced up correctly?

I think this happened after I uninstalled and reinstalled the Essentials packages....

    See screen grab below..

  • I was just asking if you had the same entries, in the same order, in both versions of DS - though if it's now working that isn't going to be terribly informative.

Well if I double click on the icon no, it's stiil giving me that pop up for can't find the content but if I drag and drop the figure into the viewport it works fine!
