ActivePose Tool Clickable Region Too Small

Is there an easier way to activate the ActivePose translation tool in a given plane (e.g. Z and X) than with mouse click? Problem with mouse is that the clickable region could be really small, making it very difficult to activate. Is there a keyboard shortcut or script that could help with this?

    There is a Viewport gizmo on selected bones, I think you have to press shift to toggle it on and off.

    Yes I'm aware of the gizmo. The problem is that it's too small. Gizmo allows manipulation of 3 planes. The clickable region for two of the planes are really small. Would be nice if I could select the plane I want without having to carefully nudge my mouse each time.
