Applying expression morphs to a custom beard

I've made a beard in Blender, imported it into Daz and used the Transfer Utility to apply it to a Genesis 2 male.

However, when I apply a facial expression morph to the character, it doesn't apply to the beard.

How do I get Expression Morphs to appy to my beard?

  • Someone must know how to do this. I have beard examples that follow every expression perfectly. Is there another forum for supporting content creators?

The problem with Genesis 2 is that auto-follow is turned off on the expressions by default. If you turn on auto-follow in the parameters tab for each expression before fitting the beard, it should then follow expressions. This would need to be done every time you apply the beard though, unless you save each autofollow expression morph as an actual morph. With fibermesh or other high poly hair, this can result in a very large file size, and will only cover the expressions you save, not others that an end-user may have. At my request, McCasual did make an autofollow script that I used for a facial hair product for Dusk. I think he made it public, so you could possibly use that to create a script to turn on autofollow. Genesis 3 and 8 don’t have these issues as autofollow is on by default.

  • Thanks Redz. That works really well. :)

Is there are similar trick to get the beard to autofollow the lower jaw? It's currently not mapping to lower jaw movements, and there is no Autofollow check box on the lower jaw.

I can’t test this right now but it could be this. When you perform the transfer utility be sure to choose ‘none’ or ‘full body’ as the template, not short hair or any of the other option.

  • Yes, "None" worked. Thanks again. :)
