A question about pw Catch

Hi all. Do any of you use pw Catch? I know it comes in the bundle, but since that is a bit pricey for me, I will just buy them one at a time. Anyways.. when you export (which I assume is still in png format so the BG is transparent..can you curve the shadow to match terrains? Also will it work with animations? Thanks

Be aware that this and the other PW shaders do not work in Iray.

It should work with animations but I'm not sure what you mean about exporting, PW will not work with wany other renderers exxpect 3dl - as far as I'm aware.

Thanks scorpio. well I'm still a 3Delight renderer guy anyways. I guess these days some would call me old school..lol   I actually meant taking the rendered model out. If in png format..it should be easily added to a real scene. Lots of programs even freebie ones will import a png file. :o) But yes, probably just rendering the whole thing inside DS would probably make more sense.

The catch has to have the curve. It's just poorly defined regular shadows that are blobs to save on render time.

Oh well, it's only 10 bucks.. I still may find it useful at times :o)

You may or may not use it. It is good though. It helps you use your products more is you have computer that is extremely fast at rendering.

  • nonesuch.. I'm so used to slow renders.. I doubt PW will shatter the earth.. lol but yes.. I think it's a worth a try :o)
