New Computer, GPU not present in settings

I recently bought a cyberpower tower in the Hopes my renders will be quicker and while a considerable help from the CPU upgrade has done some good the GPU isn't present in the advanced settings of the renders tab. Any idea? Am I missing drivers? Using a windows 10. GPU is a newer radon(I think radon I'm not at home atm). Any help is appreciated

  • If you using Daz Studio and looking for Iray support I'm afraid you are not going to be able to use a Radeon card - Iray requires an nVidia-based card with an adequate level of CUDA support, AMD (and other) chips don't have CUDA support at all.

I said that exact thing to Geek Squad and they told me it would be fine...damnit. do you have a card you recomend?
  • It depends on your budget, ideally you want a 10x0 card with 4GB of memory, 6GB or 8GB are preferable, but a 9x0 card with 4+GB of RAM should be adequate (and not dropped by Iray for a while). You certainly don't need a Quadro. At least if you were told the Radeon would work you should have no problem swapping, I'd think.

They have me a geforce gtx 1070 with 8gbs. Think it'll work?

A 1070 is a great card, it has a decent amount of oomph and the 8gb is a good amount for scenery and textures. Myself I have a 1060 w 6gb and its a good card which I am happy with. So it would certainly power your renders adequately.

  • Make sure that your power supply is adequate. nVidia recommends a 500 watt supply.

I run a 1070 and it is a solid card for rendering and gaming if that is your thing.
