Carrara render files being deleted from DazTmp by Studio-CMS

I've been having trouble holding onto animation sequences while rendering in Carrara.
Yesterday, this happened again: Carrara was rendering frames for a project that took about 6 hours to complete. But when I checked up on the job in the temp directory, the first 200+ frames had vanished. I checked the trash, did a search for the files. No luck. Hours of rendering gone.
I did more investigating because this was a near final run. I thought it was suspicious that this happened just after I tried to restart the CMS from Studio because the content database disappeared after I added a directory for some older, seldom used content from Beyond Bent. To make this a shorter story, the Windows 8.1 machine was not on the network and it looks like the CMS panicked. I'd taken the machine off the network, partially because of security concerns about why the files were being deleted in the previous incidents, and partially because of flakey Satellite internet.
While investigating what I thought was a hack, I checked the log files after Carrara started reporting that "the machine could not be identified", asking me to enable an internet connection.
I discovered that the files in the DazTmp folder were deleted the same minute that CMS failed because it could not connect. I know this because the Carrara render continued to write frames into the folder starting just after all files in the root of the DazTmp folder were deleted. It seems that Studio - CMS is having trouble cooperating with Carrara.
I changed the default tmp folder location in Carrara, but it insists on putting another DazTmp folder inside the directory I choose. Is Studio or CMS going to try to manage this folder too?
Any suggestions on keeping my work from being arbitrarily deleted?

If both DS and Carrara are using the saem temp folder then that is likely to cause issues - DS empties the temp folder on startup and on File>New, so if yous tarted DS to relaunch the CMS and they are using the same folder that would certainly account for what you saw.
That's good to know.
Also strange, because I frequently startup Studio while I'm using Carrara, and this doesn't happen that often.
I wonder why Studio sometimes failed to delete some of the Carrara renders, but not others. I'm sure Carrara's project scratch / texture spool is locked so it survives.
I don't remember resetting Carrara's temp folder to point to the same folder used by Studio.
Is this not the default?
I never render to the temp folder, always set a file path
Poser 7 did this too BTW been burnt too often
also Carrara too often clears the temp folder after closing
+1
Also, the temp folders for Studio and for Carrara are separate on my machine. Haven't had the problem reported.
